Default Infotainment problems

I've had my 3LT Stingray since March and I love driving it...but I can't get my music to play properly through the system. The problem is that when playing back an album, the system will randomly jump to a completely different song on a different album. It happens at random times on different albums and always between songs, never in the middle of any track. I have checked to make sure that shuffle play is turned off.

I have a 32GB 3rd generation iPod touch loaded with about 90 albums containing 1550 songs. The iPod is plugged into the usb port behind the nav screen using an Apple cable. The system seems to properly recognize and catalog all of the files...it lists all the artists, all of the albums and even correctly shows all of the album art. But I have never successfully played through a complete album without running into the problem. The iPod itself plays completely normally when I use it out of the vehicle.

I became so frustrated with the iPod that I tried another method. I transferred all of the same music to a usb flash drive and plugged it in to the same behind-the-screen usb port. Again all the files were properly cataloged and displayed. But the results were no better. The same thing happens...random jumps from one album to another.

Anyone else having these problems? Any thoughts?

There are a number of firmware updates for the infotainment system (at least on the '14s).
IDK how many/if they also apply to the '15.

Might want to ask the dealer/service dept. to verify they have all been installed.

My 2015 has had connectivity issues from the day I picked it up. Went in several times, no luck, finally frustrated enough to switch to USB drive, but it too has issues.

iPod issues:
-Sometimes does not recognize the iPod (I've had it in all the USB slots)
- Sometimes says "iPod", which is not name of iPod (Tweety's iPod) and won't read at all
- Sometimes doesn't see it at all
- Album artwork and info not changing, but songs do
- repeats songs

Was so frustrated, switch to USB. It works much better, but every once in a while, won't read it. Reinserting hit or miss (sometimes 2 or 3 tries), repeats songs.

Back into shop today. I told him he'd better get the GM Regional guy involved because there's no reason a $75K car's radio should work worse than my wife's Honda minivan - or any other car for that matter. Have had Kenwood's in all my Vettes (and her minivan) and they NEVER, NEVER had a glitch in them.

What ipod versions are "supposed" to be compatible with the infotainment system in the C7? I'm having issues with my ipod classic, not a surprise, and am considering buying a newer unit. There are so many generations out there now. Not interested in buying or using an iphone as I have a new LG G4 that I love.

I've had problems with 2 different SD cards that the system will stop playing at the end of a song and the only thing I can do is eject the card and re-insert it for it to play from the cards again. Both cards work fine in my '14 Silverado so it is something specific to the Vette.

Same issue with me on my iPhone 6+. Random jumping to tracks, very slow track changing, cutting in and out of songs, sometimes just disconnecting all together, etc...

Am I the only one that has noticed that the iPhone gets REALLY hot when plugged it? I usually plug it in and store it in my arm rest. I wonder if the heat has anything to do with it.

I'm not sure about heat having something to do with it, but I wouldn't be surprised if it did. By the way, my iPhone 6 does not heat up at all when plugged in, even for extended periods (4 or 5 hours). I typically leave mine in a cup holder, rather than in the arm rest. Maybe that is a factor?

Yeah, I've been putting mine in the cup holder lately just to try it out. Still seems to be getting hot. I have an aftermarket 1ft power cable. Wonder if that has anything to do with it.

Yep, others have reported this, and it happens intermittently to me, too. GM's embedded software developers must have come from the bottom of the barrel, and their test team is clueless (IT is my field--I know something about writing and testing software.) Bugs are inevitable, but the failure of GM to catch ones this obvious show a lack of understanding of how to do testing, and their failure to fix it is unacceptable.

I love my C7, but the user-facing software is pretty bad.

I own a 2014, VIN 24302, and have had issues with the Info system since day one. After many frustrating efforts to understand how it works I have given up. Today, I just shut it off and listen to the exhaust or, I may shut off the car and then restart letting the computer reboot > this usually results in the elimination of the original issue and the creation of a new one! Infotainment is not GM's best moment...

Wow- so I tried again plugging in my iPod classic today....and it actually worked!! Whoo hoo!

When I took delivery of the car, I tried using the USB port in the armrest, and it wouldn't connect.
This time I tried using a different aftermarket cable and the USB port in the hidden compartment- and SUCCESS!!

It also recognized my iPhone 4S. Couldn't get it to play from my Android using the USB, but it worked fine via Bluetooth streaming.

Has anyone tried using a USB splitter for the USB port in the hidden compartment?

I'm tempted to try something like this:

Thanks for the post, My Wife's '14 buick stopped the shuffle mode. Dealer stated I am the only one they have seen do this. Nice to know I am not nuts!
