Long live the "Garage Queens". That's what I'll be looking for in approx. a year.

As far as being on a used dealer lot, there's a ton of "program cars" in my area that were sold at auction. That would be my guess.

Right. There are lots of routes these cars can travel to get to used lots. The C7s are standing out because they are distinctive cars (and because you've got an interest in them and so notice them).

Also, used lots tend to have specialties. There's one near Flint, Michigan that almost always has used sports cars, another in Holt that deals exclusively in Corvettes and classic muscle cars, another in the Detroit suburbs with a similar specialization. I used to sell my used cars to a guy in Lansing who specialized in well maintained, high mileage sedans that he resold to people without a lot of money but who needed reliable transportation. I used to buy one year old cars from a guy that specialized in very low mile rental cars back when the rental agencies unloaded them early.

Look at what else is on the lot, and while those C7s might be exceptions, they likely fit some marketing pattern.

I found my 2014 Z51 convertible at the local Mercedes Dealer. Guy had purchased in 3/14 and put only 840 miles on it and traded in on a Mercedes. Ran carfax on it and found he had purchased at local dealer, but just didn't like to drive it. Got a great deal on it.

At the time I was looking, I also found some low mileage 14's on used car lots, but checking on them discovered they were fleet (rental cars) and had been purchased at auctions.

There are some deals on used ones, just have to be careful and check the history on them before purchasing.

Dude, its a plastic Chevrolet, not a Ferrari Enzo. What plastic Chevrolet does NOT end up on a used car lot? Answer: none.

I just do not see how cars like these could end up on a used car lot.

People that wanted a Z06 but could not wait, so bought a C7, ordered a Z06, then traded the C7 when their Z06 arrived.

Local dealer has had a couple 2014's with < 600 miles for that very reason.

IIRC, there were a couple people on this forum that did the same thing.

No big deal, a lot of people have money and like to change their toys often. To some the Corvette is a lifelong dream and others another toy.

I'm sure there are people on this forum that bought a 2015 last fall and are having serious thoughts about a 2016. Some can afford it and will justify it to themselves.

GM didn't talk about the 2015 Z06 til sometime later.
Also A big Corvette dealer don't do trade in's.i will put it this way they don't want trade in's.They take them up the road and auction them off.

Previous owner of my 2014 loaded Z51 vert owned the car from June 2014- December 2014 which he purchased from Macmulkin put almost 4000 miles on it and traded it in for a loaded New 2015 Z06 from Macmulkin. I bought the 2014 Z51 vert in December 2014 right after he traded it in. I thank guys like him every time I purchase a low mileage used Corvette!

Traded my 2014 Z51 in on a Z06 order last December in Pennsylvania, they sent it to Florida. Probably to a used car wholesaler.

That I understand, someone with more money than they know what to with it goes out and buys a new Vette, not what they expected so they go back to a dealer and trades it in on another car. But I cannot see that dealer sending a new Vette with less than 1,000 miles to an auction. Seems that would be one that they would want to resell themselves.

I just can't understand how a 2015 Vette with less than 2,000 miles ends up on a used car lot (that is not part of a new car dealer).

If the owner defaults on the loan, the bank repo's it and sells it at auction. High bidder, Chevy dealer or independent used car dealer, gets it.

The real question is why are used cars going for close to new car prices.
