Last year I purchased a new C7 3LT with Z51 option. I am now trying to verify it is a 3LT / Z51 but have not been able to find any reference or tag that identifies the model. One person said the model is on a tag in the glove compartment. But I could not find any such tag. How can I validate that my C7 is in fact a 3LT / Z51?
Look up in the STICKY THREADS section under MANUALS,... and see "DECODING a 2014 VIN" or "DECODING a 2015 VIN" as appropriate. Your VIN has trim level xLT, Z51 or not encoded. There is also a sticker under the rear carpet that has all of the RPO codes for other options.
Lots of good info in the STICKIES to help you understand this stuff.
If it was new, you have the information on the window sticker.

Reason: .
By strict definition the "model" is a Corvette Stingray. There are 2 models: Stingray and Z06.
Everything else falls under the model, such as body style, trim level, options.
If you have leather on the dash and doors it's 3LT.
If you have an oil tank, it's a Z51.
By oil tank, he means the oil fill cap is not on the engine itself, but all the way toward the passenger side of the car. The dipstick is very short, as well.
the whole "base" identifier people use tor cars without the z51 option is incorrect with the c7, z51 isnt a model its an option the only base would be a 1lt
"Base car" is not a model or an official term. To distinguish between the 2 models (Stingray and Z06), you have one or the other. The next identifier, for the Stingray, is 1LT, 2LT, 3LT, much like Accord DX, LX, and EX. The rest are packages/options which are generally not mentioned when asked what model you have. If folks want to refer to their car as a just a "Z51" if it has that package, ok, but it's not technically correct.

Please inform the insurance companies that the Z-51 is not a separate
model. They are not aware of this as they charge a lot more to insure one.

Thanks,
Just paid my annual vehicle property tax bill (>$100O for a 2014!) and found out they use the 5th VIN character to define the value! That goes from a base/1LT to a Z51/3LT! Don't have to call it a model, it defines the value and that is what I paid on! Granted my CF roof and wheels are not included they are options but the other items are identified in the VIN! Sounds like the insurance company is doing the same!

Easiest to lift your carpet in the trunk or hatchback area. The build sheet should be in the center. Just take a picture of it.

Don't mean to reignite the "Z51 Model or Option" controversy and frankly I don't care if you call my Z51 a model or an option! I actually don't understand the emotion it creates for some folks. However this pic shows how they are listed by GM in their 2015 ordering detail:
Z51 is listed as a Model by GM in 2015. Interior Groups are listed Options as are most other items. Was the same for 2014.
