The not so good news...my Sig 9mm pistol is missing. I had brought it in to the dealership to have a rim replaced after my neighbor's nanny damaged it. I did have valet mode turned on. I keep guns in all my vehicles and plenty in my house, so no reason for me to inadvertently take it out.
If you examine the 2 latches, they are made of cheap plastic and are small. Knowing that the right latch can be disengaged in valet mode with an instrument, I'm willing to bet the left latch can be opened by simply yanking on the door. That is likely also the reason why my glove box lid no longer works properly.
Nothing I can do about it now, except notify the dealership and warn you folks not to leave stuff in the glove box...even in valet mode.
That's sort of common sense not to leave anything, anywhere in your car of value. They are easy marks most of the time and a car theft can only take seconds to commit. Sorry to hear about your loss, especially a firearm.
Sorry, but I have one word for you...irresponsible!
Kind of a blanket statement since you really don't know me, but whatever makes you feel better about yourself! Just trying to warn people that are not quite as witty as you.

Thanks for the heads up. I will surely be more careful in the future. I will lock my 9mm in the trunk. Thanks again...
Sorry I don't know you, but I know enough to not leave a gun in my car......I can't believe no one sees the issue here, don't leave a gun in your car it never gets taken......

Locked in the trunk, in a lock box, with a trigger lock on is legal storage and transport. Why blame the law abiding citizen instead of the law breaking thief.

If it's that locked away it's useless.
I carry, but on me, not hidden or locked in the car.

No harm, no foul (to you). I'm a CHL holder and am entitled to carry a gun in my car. I didn't have it in plain sight and relied on VALET mode. I'm simply informing others that the latches are cheap. You apparently knew that already.

...another note, the laws are a bit different here but thanks again for your comment.

Sorry your gun was stolen - thanks for the heads up on the ease in which you can get into the hidden storage compartment. I have a similar storage compartment on my DD.
To the OP... Sorry to hear you had your weapon stolen. Good to know you can't trust the car's locks to hold your valuables safely.

To Steve... how the hell do you carry while in the car? I've thought about this and tried different possibilities but can't come up with the right solution. Either its safe but hard to get to or easy to get to but a PITA to live with in that location. What's your solution, if you don't mind me asking?
Thanks.

I agree. I leave nothing of value in my car period. That includes my handguns, wallet, and anything else of value. On a side note, where do you park your other cars, I need a new handgun...

Funny guy
I made a mistake. As a consequence of getting the word out, I certainly don't mind a few comments such as yours that really don't bring much value.
PM me for my address if you really want to take that risk.
Oh boy, I would not post this on any Firearm forum. You will be endlessly flamed. Only people I know that leave firearms in their cars are the lame brained former Sheriff of Mosquito County, who had her firearms stolen out her patrol (she never patrols) car at her house - twice! And of course the media tried to cover it up because of her political affiliation.
