Im trying to figure it out. I dont want carbon fiber material. I want something functional and aesthetically pleasing, and i want it at a good price.
I just shipped my car to germany, so i really need it to be functional on the autobahn at high speeds (a. Reduce front end lift. B. not fall off at 190mph. C. Not create too much extra drag and thus limit top speed).
I see a lot of different vendors offering stuff, but i cant figure out what the difference between all of them is... Should i just look for a z06 replica (gm prob did wind tunnel testing with that design...).
Also, i noticed some offer winglets and deflectors... Was is their function?
For what it's worth, here is a PDF of my install with a page description on the function of end plates as GM now calls them or what some call winglets-but it's not a wing! At normal speeds probably do little but on the German Autobahn or when tracking they can be effective! My C7 Carbon GTX comes in both carbon fiber, which I have, or fiberglass. I just went through this. I came to the conclusion that the GM OEM Z06 Stage-1 splitter sourced off FleaBay for about $105 shipped is the best because it has some flexibility to it so it will not crack as easily as some of the aftermarket ones that are made of CF or fiberglass. Plus it is cheap enough to be considered a consumable and replaced if damaged. It really makes the car low to the ground but it does not seem to scrape at least yet for me. However, with all the construction trash here on the roads it is only a matter of time before it gets whacked.
I did attempt to paint mine Carbon Flash, and it really requires it to be sanded smooth first (I did not) if you paint it. But the results using rattle cans was pretty good considering the cost - it just would have looked better if I would have sanded it smooth.
I agree. I went with the inexpensive OEM Z06 front splitter ... its easily replaced when it gets damaged and easy on the wallet. I installed mine with plastic fasteners instead of rivets for easy replacement.
Another ditto for the poverty splitter. Does this car honestly need a proper splitter to run close to top speed? I have no idea how effective the poverty splitter is during Autobahn runs, but you can cheaply get another one when you hit something and break it.
The stage 1 factory splitter is the most practical for street use.
Plus, I like the design better than others... It comes to a single point in the center instead of following the contour of the bumper fangs..
This is a previous post about the "poverty splitter".
"Disposable" in this case just means that it is made of molded plastic, so if damaged it is cheap to replace (as compared to carbon fiber ones).
Looking around I'm not finding the $105 shipped deal I got in March. In case it's not mentioned in this thread, poverty splitter part is 22922352. On the auction site that vaguely rhymes with "Jose", there's a seller at $110.60 shipped with 2 available. Another at $125 shipped also with 2 available. Cheers.
Low price for the OEM GM Front Splitter Part # 22922352 complete with hardware which is the rivets to secure the splitter.

They will not be undersold and will price match any competitor that is priced lower than them. They sponsor the CF and have a small banner on the right side of the screen under the category "PARTS".
They are located in Winston-Salem, NC and are the parts distribution center for Flow Automotive Group (Flow GM Auto Group) which owns several dealerships. Servie is excellent and shipping is quick.
Many of the CF members who put the spliiter on their car purchased it here.
Aren't there existing holes underneath to just screw it in?
Half of them are there while the others you drill out and either attach with the supplied rivets or do you own thing. To be honest I'm lazy and only used the existing holes. So far its survived a large retread at 73 mph and speeds to 110 or so. Had to plasti dip it after the retread incident. It got scuffed good but didn't break. If I was gonna go really fast I'd for sure fully bolt it up.
