Default Orange peel

Would like to know how the new owners of the 2016 C7 would rate their paint job ...orange peel etc..
Or is everyone satisfied ?

Could it be better, yep. But unless your scrutinizing the paint and looking closely for that, you don't see it.

Therefore I don't care much.

I lucked out this time I believe the paint is better than my C6 Inferno Orange was, panel seem to be wavier thought, but you do have to look for the flaws...........Most people wouldn't notice unless they are the one detailing the car, just looking from the curb it look GREAT.

I have bought 2 new '15 VWs this year and the paintwork on both is FAR FAR superior to my C7. I have no idea why there is so much orange peel in the finish on the Corvette line of cars ranging from the mid 60s to over 100 thousand dollars. Simply no excuse for it.....

I just looked at two 2015's and one 2016 siting on a dealer's lot and all 3 had significant orange peel. There aren't many cars on the road today that don't have it.

not many cars without orange peel ...beg to differ with that ... true ..most paint jobs are not perfect .... but... not many cars cost the amount a vette does...The vette is a specialty car ....GM knows ..that Most vette buyers are particular and want things right ...

If the obvious { the paint } has flaws ...what can be expected regarding the parts of the car that are not visable ....mmmm

OFGS.

The paint on my 2016 is beautiful... the paint on my BMW is beautiful... if you pull out a jeweler's loop, you can find "orange peel" on any painted object.

If you get in the left seat and actually drive the car, you won't see any "orange peel".

Is that GM motto .. { get in the drivers seat and you will not see the orange peel }

Sounds good to me ...I think ?

They all have it, some more than others., GM would not be renovating the plant if it wasn't a problem. You don't spend money, if it's not a problem. However some people are ok with it, I think it's atrocious on some cars....my car had it on the sides, so I wet sanded, polished and resealed with a nano ceramic coating.

Your honesty is appreciated ... good point about a new plant to do the painting correctly ...but until then ...will GM pay for the buffing out costs involved with orange peel .. ?

Oh hell no...they think its "acceptable" but you are more than willing to try… Ask the dealer to call the regional field service manager....to look at your car

MY paint job is horrid. In fact it has the Sunkist label on the rear fascia. I am luck that it is a white car so it is pretty well hidden, I also have a sag on the drivers door. The dealer said that they would fix it, but were honest about their painting of Corvettes, in that they would prefer not to paint them.
I doubt that GM or your dealer will pony up the bucks to get yours corrected, if it is a real concern I would take it to a top detailer and have them work their magic. I got a quote of about $4,700 to do mine. An amount that I am not comfortable with, but I am sure that it would look real good.

Friends and I have noticed what we think is fairly significant orange peel on several new 2016s at local dealerships. Seen on low VIN # 2016 Laguna Blue, & Torch Red Z06s..... not as noticeable on Artic White Z06. Appears to be more than what is on our 2013 C6 cars. Agree that apparently this problem will continue until the new state of the art paint facility @ BG becomes operational.....can't come soon enough for me.

Won't happen for 2016 model year since they would need down time to install and work out the problems. It will be ready for the C8 however.

It's not just Corvettes. I saw a new Caddy STS that looked like it had been painted with a roller. FoMoCo and FCA aren't much better, if any.

So GM admits there is a problem ex. bldg a new painting facility ...but they will not assist to correct failed paint jobs in the meantime .... and to make matters worse...some colors they charge extra ... cant make this stuff up !!

I have bought two 2015's this year---both have/had the "peel"... Not bad on my black one but is still noticeable.
