Class Reunion

I'll post the first dissenting view. If you are even thinking it's a concern I can guarantee you it will be with someone. Does that make you take pause or potentially feel bad? Only you can answer that. The world would be a better and nicer place if people showed a bit more humility and thought of the next guy. My opinion. I think some reunions are a virtual display of "look what I've done in life". Others are "OMG - I'm so happy to see you old friend". Figure out which you have / want and let that guide you.

Exactly what I was thinking. Either drive the Vette or rent a Taurus👍. Be proud of your accomplishments in life. You earned it! As others have stated, you may be surprised what some of your classmates have made or inherited🙀

The timing has never worked to make my reunion but to do it right .... I'd need my old slightly tarnished green C3 roadster. That's was the first and maybe last Vette my real pals got to drive.... Yup, they drove it.

I just drove my 15 Z06 to my 45th. It was a big hit.

My 40th was two weeks ago. Drove the C7; 1500 mile round trip. Didn't flaunt it or hide it. It caused no issues with anyone.

We are attending a 40th year class reunion this weekend for my wifes high school class. It is about 5 hours away in a small town in SE Texas. We are debating on which car to drive, the Vette or the DD (2013 ATS.) We have had Corvettes for about 15 years now, but have also not lived in that area for many years. Some of those in attendance may not have fared so well during that time as it is a pretty low income area. In fact I grew up poor but did not know it until many years later. Since we have the new 3LT coupe, my wife (and I guess myself) are a little concerned that some may think we are driving the Vette to show off. Of course that would not be the case at all since there are some nice roads that I can drive on the way down and back, but some may take it that way. Because of the location of the reunion, many of those in attendance will undoubtable see the car either when we arrive or depart. I know this is not a Ferrari...

Some people at work say it's good to be "rich" because I have a Vette yet their pickup / SUV actually cost the same or more then the Vette.
General Population think they are all 70K plus and are gonna look at the ATS as the same because it is a Caddy.
If you are really worried about your image rent a Kia or something.

As said above, take the vette!
My class reunion was 3 weeks ago. One of the high point for me was seeing an old buddy pull in with his shiny new triple black Z06!

Of course you are trying to show off, we all are making a statement, (but we do it with class). We can't help it that we like the corvette and are proud to drive it. Please drive the vette and make my day. Thanks.

I'd drive what I wanted, which would be my vette, and let the chips fall where they may. Do people sometimes resent that I have a nice car? Hell yeah. Two days ago I stopped near the car wash to finish drying my car and some drunk dude sitting in his yard started saying some not so nice things based on the fact that I was drying my car on his street. To the point I thought it might get physical. I didn't respond in kind so he eventually shut up. Most people respond according to another's attitude. If you don't think money and material things make you better than someone else they won't think you're a dick. I'd drive the vette and consider it an exercise in not being concerned in what other people think.

Look at it this way, if you don't take it, you'll miss it all weekend. I don't drive mine to show off and I doubt anybody other than a few friends really knows I have one. I drive it because I love driving it. When I'm out of town for a couple of weeks, I can't wait to get home and out on the road with it.
It'll be a great roadtrip with the Vette, but just a boring drive to SE Texas without it.

Getting there in the Vette would definitely be a lot more fun.[/QUOTE]

Thanks for all of the comments. I decided to go ahead and drive the Corvette. We drove some farm roads and had fun on the drive down.
I had no motive to show off, so I am good with my decision.

Good decision. It's all about the motives. We will need pics to verify though.

Take the Vette.....you were successful enough to buy the Corvette because you earned it.
While it may be a poor area, you might be surprised who shows up and what they might be driving or how elegent your past female classmates might be dressed.
Drive the car, and be proud of your accomplishments.
