I have to clean the car up and add some tire wet, but I love the look personally. I've gotten many positive comments while driving around as well. To each their own. And also, I don't feel it looks nearly as bad as bell bottoms do.
There's a right way and a wrong way of doing it. It's imperative the letters go from the rim to the outer edge...not smaller. The smaller letters are how cars were in the 80's, current trucks are, nascar...all that crap.
This new trend of lettering mirrors how the tires are lettered by the manufacturer at race events for vehicles they sponsor. The idler series in japan kind of kicked this off on street cars, with RWB a few years ago...
So be clear...THIS below...IS NOT correct...letters too small...looks 80's and ridiculous
There has been A LOT of demand to Michelin (I know this for a fact) to provide the more permanent labels like they use for the endurance tires, but they refuse to allow them to be available to the public, though there is a company that has been pushing for it. They painted them on, but now the entire logo label is added to the sidewall and has color to it...I think we'll see these transition into use as a certain company gets them.
So...please...don't start coloring in the letters on the tires that already exist...that isn't how it's done. These are templates that spray large and very randomly on the tire itself. The letters on the tire that are molded in are too small.
Another thing to keep in mind is, this is a very aggressive look...very race oriented. If you have a chrome wheel Corvette that is stock rally ride height and you put white lettering on your tires, it's going to look flat out stupid and ridiculous. If you're car is aggressive looking, sits aggressive, etc...then you can pull it off.
Actually, it's not a right way or a wrong way of doing anything. It's to each their own. I don't own a full fledged racecar. So I don't want lettering large enough to cover rim to tire edge. I like how it looks. It's not right or wrong. I blow dry my car. Some use towels. Doesn't make it right or wrong. Just different ways and different outcomes. As long as each is happy with their vehicle.
There is a way to have individuality and move with fashion overall, and then there is a means to do absolutely whatever you feel like and be an outcast because "to each his own"...it's that simple.
There's gonna be a LOT of outcasts driving around very soon. It's becoming very popular rather quickly . All sorts of makes and models doing it. I'm fine with being an outcast.
If you say so...you sound very cutting edge. Just another thing for old guys to do to their chrome wheel cars to make Corvettes more laughable I suppose. Maybe some lambo doors to accentuate it.
Millpond - I'm not sure why you would even ask the question. It doesn't matter what I think - or whatever anyone else thinks - it only matters when you think. Why follow a wondering crowd when you have the opportunity to be unique?

Just posted the pic for the interest of fellow forum members. It's not my car, and I don't plan on doing any tire painting.
