That's the very definition of tasteless. White letter tires went out of style about the same time as bell bottom pants.

Brings back memories. I spent hours doing this as a kid. Silver paint works best.

I would buy them, they can't look any worse than black wheels.

Looks great. Very aggressive and racey. The tires pop with the black wheels.

Fifty years later, I still like the look... but would't do it on my car as it seems rather pretentious.

I'll have you know my
new Nissan Frontier pickup has factory white-letter tires. If a stylish, avant garde work of art like my Fronty has 'em, they ain't tasteless! Anyway, style goes in cycles, so maybe it's time for bell-bottoms and white-letter tires again. On second thought, not bell-bottoms, please.

Looks better than I thought it would, I would have tried red letting on that car though.

If you look on the Z06 forum you will see that the letters are glued on.
It's a pretty neat system.

I like the look from 30 foot but might look real bad up close as I think they are glued on. You can it any lettering and size you want.

We did that in the 70s with "raise letter tires."
That was then, and this is now. They look dated and tacky, but if you want them go for it. Not for me though.

Actually, it's becoming quite popular already. I've seen a few at cars and coffee with yellow lettering like this:
