This information was enough for my dealer to find and install the update: "Gm has a fix for seat movement. Pi 1245 Dated 5/20/2014 STD shift cars must have update for seat to move when ignition bottom is turn on. Software update puts the option in for you to set this up. Doc 3829637". There's more in the reported problems sticky.

Must be faster than a speeding bullet to use the automatic seat recall function!

I open the door with the seat back and steering wheel up. I sit down and as I'm closing the door I reach for my seat belt with my right hand. It's easier to reach when the seat is back (don't get caught trying to use the seat belt holder to help when the seat is forward, which according to the manual is for kids and short folk. It puts the belt in a bad position for normal size folks and often comes out-been there tried that!) Simultaneously, while pulling the belt over with my right hand I multitask and with a finger on my left hand I push and hold my memory button. Yes it's a bit awkward at first but I now find it very easy.
When Chevy announced they were coming up with a seat memory option for us M7 folks was hoping they would just use what worked in my C6 and other cars, push the memory button once without the car having to be started-no such luck! The option (note they didn't call it a fix) was to use push the start button without the clutch depressed and then car goes to the memory position of the key FOB, beit in your pocket of wherever. However having used my method for over a year, which starts the car fast, that meant pushing the start key twice and the first time wasting my right hand movement by 1) having the seat belt already bucked or 2) reaching for the belt while the seat was moved forward, which is more difficult, and in both cases pushing in the clutch and hitting the start key again.
My method starts the car sooner! Since it's my DD I don't want to have to push buttons in sequence like starting the space shuttle!
Your choice, get the dealer installed option (some folks like it) or try my method.
I obviously have fun with this issue and have since I got my C7 1st week in October 2013-will be 2 years soon. Don't get my poking fun wrong, it's a great car. Have had zero problems and not been back to the dealer every in two years after I had the differential oil checked per their request when I got the car-it was fine.
We have never been told why they deviated from the C6 seat memory recall. So I speculate they outsourced the software overseas and someone who did not have or drive a car wrote it!

With an C7 M7 there are some other inferior differences compared to a C6. Perhaps GM outsourced that software overseas and the person did not drive!

I have asked for an explanation from the Chevy forum monitors for why not what worked in the C6 and other issues like jump starting the car from the engine compartment and they cannot get answers from their "sources!" Don't blame them at all-they respond best they can! As I said, love the car and have had zero problems. That 2nd issue was put to bed with the 2015 owner's manual, which deleted the engine compartment reference to jump starting anywhere but at the battery!

And yes, I think the '14 has valet mode.
I've seen some cars where the valet key limits horsepower and rpm, but GM didn't see fit to offer us that on their halo performance car.
