Default Easy Exit

I have a 2014 Z51 Stingray. Easy exit is set to "on" When I open the door to exit, steering wheel goes up and seat goes to full back position. So far, so good. However when I unlock car to get back in, steering lowers and seat returns to slightly forward (preset position). How do I get it to only operate once I am seated and close the door like my C6 used to? I have gone through menu and the manual and all they seem to say is on/off. I can't see where the option is for exit and entrance. Any advice much appreciated.

If I understand correctly, it sounds like Vehicle Personalization for the seat memory is set to move the seat to the preset position at door open rather than at vehicle start. That is, it isn't easy exit that's the issue, it's the memory seat recall. Check the settings for that and change this item. This is also described in the owners manual if you need a description.

<p>&nbsp;</p><p>You may need a software update. Initially 2014's only had 2 options for memory seat recall:</p><p>
</p><p><strong>Auto Memory Recall</strong></p><p>This feature automatically recalls</p><p>the current driver&rsquo;s previously stored</p><p>1 or 2 button positions when</p><p>entering the vehicle. See <em>Memory</em></p><p><em>Seats on page 3-4</em>.</p><p>Select Off or Off. <span style="color:rgb(255, 0, 0)">On some vehicles</span></p><p><span style="color:rgb(255, 0, 0)">select Off, On - Driver Door Open,</span></p><p><span style="color:rgb(255, 0, 0)">or On - At Ignition On.</span></p><p>
</p><p>If you don't have the On - At Ignition On, you need the software update, as your only choices are On (which moves them when you open the door) or Off (which does not automatically move them at all.</p><p>&nbsp;</p>

You said "full back position". That's probably your problem. If the seat is hitting the limit switch behind it, that will prevent the seat from moving to the preset position. Try making the exit position about half an inch further forward.

Default Detail on software update for seat memory 2014 M7

My 2014 was built in April 2014. Here's the info required for your dealer to look up the software update in his system:

This information was enough for my dealer to find and install the update: "Gm has a fix for seat movement. Pi 1245 Dated 5/20/2014 STD shift cars must have update for seat to move when ignition bottom is turn on. Software update puts the option in for you to set this up. Doc 3829637". There's more in the reported problems sticky.

Before software update:

After software update:

One of many threads on the issue:

Enjoy your Vette!

That was one of the irrationalities of the Standard Shift 2014 and 2015 Vette seat memories. Someone posted the options. You can actually elect have the seat return to the memorized position of your key FOB when you open the door! The other options are when the car starts. Fine for an automatic but with a standard shift if not very tall you can't reach the clutch (with anything but a distorted position that is you keep trying may require a chiropractor! Or the 3rd option which is to shut it OFF! Best I can find from reading the 2016 manual, like the "magic memory wire activated vent"-that "return when door open option" has been eliminated. I believe that option was only for Superman who is faster that a speeding bullet!

Must be faster than a speeding bullet to use the automatic seat recall function!

As a follow-on answer re the dealer installed optional software that came out after I had my car for over a year and learned what I think is even a better way, here is what I learned to do and still use:
I open the door with the seat back and steering wheel up. I sit down and as I'm closing the door I reach for my seat belt with my right hand. It's easier to reach when the seat is back (don't get caught trying to use the seat belt holder to help when the seat is forward, which according to the manual is for kids and short folk. It puts the belt in a bad position for normal size folks and often comes out-been there tried that!) Simultaneously, while pulling the belt over with my right hand I multitask and with a finger on my left hand I push and hold my memory button. Yes it's a bit awkward at first but I now find it very easy.
When Chevy announced they were coming up with a seat memory option for us M7 folks was hoping they would just use what worked in my C6 and other cars, push the memory button once without the car having to be started-no such luck! The option (note they didn't call it a fix) was to use push the start button without the clutch depressed and then car goes to the memory position of the key FOB, beit in your pocket of wherever. However having used my method for over a year, which starts the car fast, that meant pushing the start key twice and the first time wasting my right hand movement by 1) having the seat belt already bucked or 2) reaching for the belt while the seat was moved forward, which is more difficult, and in both cases pushing in the clutch and hitting the start key again.
My method starts the car sooner! Since it's my DD I don't want to have to push buttons in sequence like starting the space shuttle!
Your choice, get the dealer installed option (some folks like it) or try my method.

I obviously have fun with this issue and have since I got my C7 1st week in October 2013-will be 2 years soon. Don't get my poking fun wrong, it's a great car. Have had zero problems and not been back to the dealer every in two years after I had the differential oil checked per their request when I got the car-it was fine.
We have never been told why they deviated from the C6 seat memory recall. So I speculate they outsourced the software overseas and someone who did not have or drive a car wrote it!

With an C7 M7 there are some other inferior differences compared to a C6. Perhaps GM outsourced that software overseas and the person did not drive!

Sorry Zymurgy, you beat the 2nd response I was writing! 1st was getting too long! As I said I have fun poking fun at the software I lived with for a year before they offered the option. As I state I like my method- starts the car faster and I'm perfectly happy!
I have asked for an explanation from the Chevy forum monitors for why not what worked in the C6 and other issues like jump starting the car from the engine compartment and they cannot get answers from their "sources!" Don't blame them at all-they respond best they can! As I said, love the car and have had zero problems. That 2nd issue was put to bed with the 2015 owner's manual, which deleted the engine compartment reference to jump starting anywhere but at the battery!

There is no preset valet code. You put in the code you want to use every time you activate valet mode.

You have to enter a code every time you set valet mode, and when you exit valet mode it goes away. You enter a new code each time, so there's no old code to clear (unless it was in valet mode when you bought it).

And yes, I think the '14 has valet mode.

Thank you everyone for your replies. Car has to go back in to dealer again next Monday for second attempt at repairing Nav screen. Flashing and blacking out. I'll ask them about the memory seat issue at the same time.

Frankly, it doesn't do much unless you have the PDR. It locks the glove box and "hidden" cubby in the dash, and locks out some of the infotainment controls. IF you have PDR, it also activates the PDR so you get a visual record of the valet parker abusing your car.

I've seen some cars where the valet key limits horsepower and rpm, but GM didn't see fit to offer us that on their halo performance car.
