Yup, and the only thing i can think of that varies daily is the humidity. Does anyone know exactly what the upcoming capital expenditure improvment in BG is? Is it to hermetically seal the place? To truly "air-condition" the shop? If it was in the robots/paint formula/procedure, they would all be good, or they'd all be bad, right?
GM announcement said they will spend $500 million but wouldn't be complete for a year or more.
it's true the OP is awful ...but who pays to have it buffed out ....and for the loss of the car while it is being done? Besides the OP there are other flaws ..in the panels ..dips and drips ...hard to explain ..but it's there...
My 2015 LB has very little OP and an over all good paint job. I think they put an extra coat of clear on the LB.
I have LB and the paint looks great. The clear coat on the other hand is horrible. If you look closely at it, there are areas where dust and dirt must have been present. There are very small areas that look like air bubbles that have popped.
None of this was noticed at the dealership. I am sure new car excitement had lots to do with that. I only noticed after I gave it a thorough wash this weekend.
I can live with the crappy clear coat for a while. When she gets her first detail, hopefully those areas will be waxed and polished out.

It's on YOU...if you accept the car. GM won't stand behind you on this (using the excuse: "Your car is no worse than others on the lots...") That is a direct quote from my regional GM service rep.
I feel for you guys with OP paint jobs but you do have an out that is less expensive than fixing the mottled paint job on my Blade Silver 15 coupe. Lot's of discussion in other threads on this issue. Bottom line, I took it through BBB arbitration with GM and lost. Another long story. During the process the local GM rep told dealer Service director to find another 15 Blade Silver and see if mine was any worse. They found one and concluded that mine was no worse. What a quality standard. The only fix for mine is a complete repaint. To add insult to injury two other BS owners with the same complaint have been satisfied by GM. One with new panels from the factory and another a new car. I was told by GM that what I had was a perception problem.
So far I've been unable to find an attorney to take the case. It's not personal injury so not enough money.
I love driving the car but hate looking at it in direct sunlight. Thinking about a wrap.
I really don't understand this. I just sold my 2013 Grand Sport in Crystal Red Tintcoat. It had the best paint of any car I had. My CTS is just about the same only the Crystal was prettier.
I wonder if it got worse as they used the robots I don't know what stage the paint process was in as the Car was made in February 2013
Hope my Laguna Blue car turns out better than what I am hearing
what did the dealer say ...? did you get a refund ? what if you refuse the car ?
Not much, just that he passed the info on the the regional rep. No refund, although I am not making a huge stink about it. If it was a premium tint coat that I had to pay for like Laguna blue or Crystal red I think I would have fought for the $$ for the paint. To be honest, refusing the car never crossed my mind.
My 2016 LB Stingray does have some OP mainly on the vertical panels. It is noticeable under the right conditions but is no worse than several BMWs I have owned. The paint on my 2013 Audi A6 is flawless.
Maybe if more C7 owners would do the same Bowling Green would actually do something about this disgraceful problem.
Maybe we do have a case? (Hoping when you get yours it is not bad, of course.) But if it is, how can they deny they have a painting problem when they are investing millions in new equipment? I dunno, just thinking out loud.....
I have a black 2016 and after just looking it over comparing it my wife's silver 2012 SRX. The doors on my vette have OP, but the hood and hatch look very nice, along with fenders. I can look down the side of my wife's Caddy and I see OP. Really sucks when you consider the combined original MSRP was $100k+. Overall I am pleased with the black, I expected worse.
Even worse was the shading difference in Cyber Gray Between the hood and fenders...only myself and another pro craggy noticed but the hue was more "purplish" on hood.
16 is perfect panel to panel in color (Shark Gray)
I purchased a 2015 Kia Optima EX fully loaded earlier this year for less than 25k. The paint is PERFECT. How can Kia deliver a perfect paint job for that price & GM can't at 2 1/2 times the cost?
Note the cloud reflection in the hood and the driveway reflection in the driver's door.
If the car paint is unacceptable why accept delivery and pay for it? If it is bad why not make GM order you another since you refuse to pay for it.
Question is, those who ordered from an out of state dealer than have it shipped to a local dealer via "Courtesy Delivery" did you have to pay for the car before it arrived at the local dealer?
