Engine being replaced
Thanks in advance!
They did tell me they were short-handed and it would take a little longer than usual. I dropped in last Wednesday on the way home from work. It looked pretty much as the picture I posted. I was told there was some work done on it, but it didn't look like it to me. I told them that I had been very patient and understanding, and still was, but that would end soon if progress wasn't made. The service manager said the guy he wants to put on it was free now and he would put him on my car/engine.
Friday morning I get a call that the car is ready! It has been test driven, re-inspected, and the service manager is washing it. I picked it up Friday afternoon and it was perfect. Not a mark or scratch anywhere, hood alignment was spot-on. It was parked out in front when I got there. The manager said he hoped that was OK with me; he liked to have it there as is draws so much attention.
So of course the car runs perfectly now (60 kms and it hasn't seized, so I'm hopeful!). The whole thing was handled so well at the dealership.
Oh, when I went to pick it up the old engine was already boxed up for shipping. I would have liked to look in the intake ports, but didn't think it was fair to have them unpack it. He said he will get a report on what GM finds. That will be interesting to see how much detail it goes into.
It took 2 weeks to the day. I don't think that is too bad for a such a major repair.

Crap happens. It is how you are treated after that really matters. Absolutely no complaints here.
It's funny to read the service paperwork on the things that they replaced. It goes something like:
p/n xxxxxxxx - Hose
p/n xxxxxxxx - Gasket
p/n xxxxxxxx - Hose
p/n xxxxxxxx - Bolt
p/n xxxxxxxx - Nut
p/n xxxxxxxx - Engine
....
The dry sump oil lines were replaced. Apparently standard procedure when replacing a damaged engine.

- while not the same company - my Honda cracked the block -they bolted the top half of my engine onto a new block - 75k later my DD has no issues - your not going to win unless your gonna sue - I am more like you and roll with the punches instead of getting all wound up over something out of your control - but as my name suggests - I've seen things overseas that put life into perspective - very sorry that happened to you - mainly for the vette to suv
Hope it goes well and your back having fun soon!
