I guess it was 40 years for me, too. I did manage to get an XLR a couple of years ago (gave my CTS to my son when his car got totaled). That definitely helped soften the Corvette "mid-life crisis" impact for my wife. But the C7 styling makes the XLR look like a Chrysler LeBaron, so it was still a bit of an uphill battle. But once we bought it, she loved it (although she'd never drive it... she wouldn't drive the XLR, either).
