Default What I really miss in my '16 Vert!

...is a CD player! Am I the only one who wishes the C7 had a CD player? Does anyone have a good reason why GM dropped it from this car?

I'm a diehard BlackBerry user so no Apple iPhone or iPod in my life. I really enjoy being able to slip a CD into the radio like I do in my '15 Tahoe. I'm not one for "shuffle" type music or random playlists.

Do any of you have any suggestions how I can, somewhat easily, transform my extensive CD collection into an organized and accessible digital format that can be played in my C7? I'm not super techie so don't holdback on any advice that you may think is too basic!

Many thanks!

For the same reason the cassette player was dropped in a previous generation of the car.

Do yourself a favour and get itunes (free), rip all your CD's to your computer, and copy to a USB stick(nearly free). You'll be happy you did.

Put your entire collection of CDs on a $20 jump drive, plug it onto a USB slot and never shuffle CDs again. You'll never look back.

I have a collection of unused VHS video tapes that I would be willing to sell at a good price.

Thanks but how do you actually "put the collection of CDs on a jump drive"? What is a "jump drive" and where can you buy one?

Use my IPOD, create my on playlists, or record books, much better to have all of this on storage and access what I want without the clutter of CDs in the car. No need for CD anymore since you have storage devices... A little time doing file transfers is much more convenient, no CD cases, immediate access without changing disks, why would you want a CD?

I agree at least they could have an option for one in the rear compartment.

I am a techie and Although at $20 you're probably over paying for that drive unless you have like 10,000 cds lol 8GB should be more than enough, expect to pay $5-10 for that.

You'll want to plug the flash drive into your computer, then put the CD into the computer. Open both the flash drive and CD ROM from My Computer and click and drag the songs from the CD to the Flash drive (you can select them all at once). When that's done, remove the CD insert the next one and repeat the process until you have all of your CDs on the flash drive. I recommend creating a folder for each CD, this will allow you to more easily play the 'CD' you want later. So if you're coping, oh I don't know frank sanatras greats hits, right click select new select folder and type "Frand Sanatra - Greatest Hits" as the title and drop all of the songs in that folder. Your car will then be organized the same way when you're scrolling through your music library.

Perfect answer. CDs require physical action to change to a new CD. The thumb-drive with every CD you own will be plugged in and you can change by voice or button to whatever you wish. No hassle of jewel cases, CD cases, storage of CDs in the car, or finding the exact CD you want to play. The only effort on your part is getting all yer **** ripped and loaded on to the thumb-drive. Once that's done you're in fat city.

This... but don't use itunes. Assuming that you use a Windows computer (since you're a BB diehard) Windows Medial Player will rip your CDs to mp3 and automatically name the songs and albums, putting them into folders for each. Once you copy the folders to a flash drive you can go into the folders from your car and listen to the album just as if it were a CD.

Here's a nice tiny flash drive that will work great.

I bought a stainless steel 16G thumb drive with no lights for 7.00 and put all my music on it. All of my CD's are in the 2005 Dodge. Took a few nights of ripping CD's but now I have it all and I made a backup copy.

One other point… You don’t have to spend hours copying all your CDs at once. That could be very time consuming. Just put a few on your thumb drive and test it out to make sure your process works. Add more CDs to the thumb drive at your leisure.

Here you go:

Amazon.com: External USB DVD/CD: Computers & Accessories Amazon.com: External USB DVD/CD: Computers & Accessories

Plug that into the center console and bring that big box of cd's with you!
