You can set the passenger mirror to drop down in reverse, helps to see curbs.
Yeah, the tilting mirrors are a cool idea, but... the implementation of them leaves something to be desired. As I understand it, under settings you can select the mirrors to turn down when in reverse and once done they will always tilt down when selecting reverse. However, I much more often want the mirrors to point rearward to see where I'm going and need the tilt down on rare occasions. It would be great if there was an icon on the Ifotainment screen to allow tilt when you want it rather than every time you back up. The manual says they revert to rear facing when backing up above a certain speed but it doesn't say what that speed is. Let those who drive decide.
Ouch.. Usually I see them parked with the front wheels RAMMED right up against the parking block. Scraping the bottom chin, air intakes, whatever..
Who keeps teaching people that the parking block is made for you to pull up on it until you hit it?
Unless i'm driving my truck, I NEVER pull all the way up..
Recall with my CJ5 loved putting it in 1st and Low and rock crawling over those in an empty mall!
Since I added my C7 CF Splitter when I need to park close, I back in and use the back-up camera. Works great.
Aw, give him a break. At least he backed it in and the curb is rounded. No harm. Besides, except for the red calipers that Stingray looks identical to mine, so maybe it belongs to an old guy like me. Back when I was a kid they put curb feelers or cars.
Yep, I back up so rarely I could see myself doing this
I have my "seat memory" #1 set to my normal driving position with mirrors set to cover blind spots on both sides of the car. #2 is the same except it has the mirrors tilt down and look down the sides of the car.
It would be great if there was an icon on the Ifotainment screen to allow tilt when you want it rather than every time you back up.
Exactly. My Acura SUV will slant down the mirror when the car is in reverse when the mirror selector switch is moved to the right or left position. In the center neutral position the mirrors stay put.
My question is why leave it that way? Everyone makes a gaff backing up every once in a while, but I would never walk away from my car parked like that.
Corvette Forum's Patrick Morgan says, "No one's really expecting us to go out and win an IndyCar race, but as Corvette owners and drivers, we do hold ourselves to a higher standard of prowess behind the wheel."
I used to think this, as well. Until this happened.
His point was obnoxious, but well made, and a little humorous. This was mid-afternoon, in the far end of the otherwise empty parking lot.
BTW, I'm the green one.
There's always that envious jerk that has to prove a point. Which is more a reason to get your parking right so you don't draw more attention to yourself to asshats like that.
