Definitely get your paint corrected by GM. If they repaint and still not satisfied, have them correct again. You paid 100% of the agreed price for the car so you should receive 100% of a finished product. If all else fails, look into a lemon law claim. Every state law is different. You may not be able to get a 100% refund with a lemon law claim but you could be eligible for financial compensation. Usually, if you have a good lemon law case, you don't pay the attorney. The attorney seeks their financial compensation from the manufacturer.
Keep this as an option because as a consumer, you do have some protection. I am sure others will chime in on this topic.
Luckily didn't have to go that far. They did agree to give me a new white C7 and they are looking for one and I will take delivery as soon as they have it.
There is no doubt that is primer showing through the black. I can't believe the color coat is that thin. I'd be beyond angry. You really should get a new car if possible. A repainted car isn't the same as a one that's never been painted on regardless of how much better it may look overall.
I hope GM steps up and takes care of your problem. I understand they may not be able to address the orange peel issue until the new paint shop opens, but paint shouldn't have been an extra cost option. I could do better with spray cans. Surely, the inspector at the end of the line saw this under the numerous florescent lighting arrays, but didn't care and let it through.
Luckily they agreed to trade me for a new white C7. Sadly however, they did say they are proud to deliver their vettes like that. You can read more in my update.
I have a couple of spots on the top of the passenger side fender very close to the hood opening. The spots look like there was a problem with a solvent. It is just a string of little pin holes and they are hard to see but when the light hits right they are there. Black makes them show up more and it also makes them harder to repair. I mentioned it to the dealer that is servicing my car and they told me to go to an autobody shop they recommend. I had that shop do some paint touchup on my previous car and they did a great job. However, when they looked at this problem the owner said it might be better to do nothing. Whatever we do we might make it look worse. I was going to have Expel film added to the car and when I took it in to get an estimate the detailing shop said the same thing. Don't touch it. So I went with the experts and the fender was left as is and has some Expel on it now. When I had the car at the body shop the owner did mention there was an issue with the smoothness of both front fenders. He said to call him back after the weekend after he checked a friend's Z06 to see if it had the same issue. It did, and every one of the C7s on the show room floor at the dealer had it. My son's 2014 has it. If you look at the top of the fenders as they narrow down at the base of the windshield the top surface is wavy (quite a bit and you can feel it if you run your hand along the fender). They literally all have the issue. It isn't a paint issue it is a fender manufacturing issue.
When I complained about the mottled Blade Silver paint on my 2015 I was told by GM that the paint is by design and the it was merely a perception problem on my part. Went all the way to arbitration, unsuccessfully, for a lot of reasons. One of a group of us with Blade Silver problems was able to get a New 2016 through arbitration. So much depends on the Arbitrator you get as well as the BBB doing their job.
My only consolation at this point is hoping my going to arbitration over paint might have helped push the decision for a new paint facility.

I'm sorry about that. This has honestly left me with a sad feeling in my heart. I love the car but it surprises me how GM is happy with their paint or at least how they have people working for them who truly don't care. You would think they'd take extra care or be a little more careful with one of their most if not most popular car. My friend is looking at getting either a GT-R or a Z06 and after this he's almost sure he's not even going to give Chevy a chance because he wants a black car.

So after waiting a while to find a car, they finally found a white stingray and it arrive last Friday. I dropped by and approved it and they said they'd have it ready by next Friday (tomorrow) and this whole mess should be over.
NEVER GO TO SAGE COVINA CHEVROLET if you're in SoCal. Horrible people.
I was told I'd get an update every day this week to let me know where everything was at with the "Exchange of Collateral" but that never happened. Now I've been trying to get a hold of the manager since 11 AM this morning and as of 8:00 pm I have yet to hear back from him. I have a feeling I won't be getting my car any time soon.
I really feel bad for anyone who has to experience that type of treatment from a corvette dealer. I would like to state that not every black corvette has a bad paint job. My ordered 2016 black coupe ordered for MacMulkin, built on 9/11/15, and courtesy delivered to Pompano Beach, Florida, has a pretty dam good paint job. Some orange peel on the doors but the rest of the car is pretty close to excellent. Other premium foreign made cars have paint jobs that are not perfect either. My courtesy delivery manager advised me that he did not want to wash my car because he would not feel comfortable with the car wash guy doing the right thing. So I took the car home washed it myself with a brand new lamb wash mitt, dried it with my master blaster then polished it with Maquires NXT 2.0. Absolutely no swirls, no defects, no imperfections, just a rich deep flawless black shine. Yes, some orange peel on the doors only, but no worse than a neighbors Mercedes.
Maybe I am lucky, and there are those who were delivered unacceptable examples, but I also have spoken to many other owners of C7's who are very happy with their colors and the quality of the finish.

Wel hopefully yours isn't like mine. I only noticed it at first when prepping my car to get detailed using a flashlight. And then I started seeing it more and more in the sun once I already knew what to look for.
But no customer should have to go thru this. I don't care if it's a Toyota Yaris or a M4. A customer is a customer. We agree to pay full agreed price therefor we should all get excellent service and a proper product. I run my family's business and I don't care if it's a first time walk in or a wholesale customers of ours, you better believe I will take care of them all the same if a problem were to arise and handle it professionally and in a timely manner. I called them again after posting and the manager said he's too busy and he'll call me sometime tomorrow. What??
This place is a joke. Never again will I come here and my friend that's going to be buying a Z06 will be contacting a forum dealership. They just missed out on a 90k+ deal.
So last week I found something odd in my paint of my 16 C7 while prepping the car to get detailed. My detailer and I looked closely and found that it was uneven spray. The whole car has it and at first is hard to see but with an LED flashlight (not your phone light) it is very obvious. We first noticed it on the trunk lid pillars if you can call it that. Then realized its on every crease of the car. I took it in to the dealership today and they had me go to their body shop of choice and they confirmed that the car was not properly painted. There was even an insurance adjuster from Mercury there who said "oh another one. That's very common with these cars in that color".
Well that's great. Now I have to wait two weeks for a GM rep to come out and have them take a look at it so they authorize me getting a new car. I don't want it repainted because it's not going to look as good according to the repair guy. Anyone else notice this? Maybe I'm just too picky but we all paid a pretty penny for the car.
You can see some weird spots. According to the collision guy that's under the clear and needs to be sanded down completely and resprayed.
bought a white 2016 ..hides a lot of sins ,,and there are many sins in this paint job ....
So I finally took delivery of the new stingray. 16 Arctic White with black wheels and a transparent roof. Roof is not much of my liking but had no choice (willing to trade for a black top with a local). If anyone wants any info on the case if they are going to try and do the same let me know and I'll help you out the best I can.
Congrats on finally getting your replacement C7. I know it's been a painful wait and frustrating dealing with GM, but the white looks nice. I've followed this thread closely since black is the only color I want and it has influenced my decision to wait until I see higher quality paint jobs coming out of the new paint shop before ordering.
Call me absolutely astounded that you got a car out of them for bad paint....
I got my car back in OCT and haven't REALLY given it a good look in the sun yet. . . (It's been in a cover since late NOV)
Probably cuz I had already gone to a professional body shop that the dealer recommended and they confirmed the paint was too thin. Sadly, the service adviser got in trouble for doing so, probably cuz that's what gave me the upper hand.

Thank you! I was very heartbroken when I had to get something else rather than black. It was my all time favorite but oh well. I am really liking the white tho. The orange peel doesnt seem to be as bad and it looks in my opinion, better than the black. The black accents and black wheels really make the car look awesome. The transparent roof looks black as well so it's pretty great.
But one thing that stayed with me that the "regional manager" said was that they're not going to change they paint their cars. Very sad indeed.
Maybe go to a dealership and take a paint/detail guy with you and see if you can find those spots. Maybe there is a good black vette out there lol
Man, I wish you the best of luck but I suspect if the only thing you'll accept is a new car, you will need that lawyer and lots of time and money. I hope I'm wrong but my bet is you will get a repaint and that's it.
I feel really bad that you have to go through this but your problem does not meet the criteria for the Lemon Law.
As I mentioned, don't mention lawyer or lawsuit to anyone from GM. They then cut off all communication and wait for your attorney to contact them.
Once you have exhausted your GM options, then contact a lawyer but I still would not tell the dealer or GM anything.
Not sure why so many people accept bad paint jobs at delivery. Inspecting the vehicle before you take delivery would avoid issues for you and possibly cause GM to reconsider their acceptable standards on the C7.
Good to see that there was a satisfactory resolution in this case.

Unfortunately, one of the trade offs from saving money thru a forum dealer from across the country (or courtesy delivery). A shame that you cannot buy a $70,000 car with the confidence that it will be delivered with a decent paint job...
