I finally had to come to the realization that I am suffering from this in regard to my car. My wife finally informed me. "Why don't you just go out and drive that damn thing. All you do is worry if it is going to rain, get dirty, this, that and the other! You love that car. Enjoy driving it. So what if you have to go out and wash it once a week. Have fun!"
I was taken aback. But she is right you know. She went on to say that is why there are wash buckets and windshield wipers. For crying out loud you're going to be dead within 25 years, and you'll never see a tombstone stating "I wish I hadn't driven my Corvette so much!"
She was right you know. Starting tomorrow I am no longer going to check the radar map for rain, the extended weather forecast, go get my carduster, my detailer, my microfibers, my this, my that..I'm just going to go outside into the garage, open the door to the car, step on the brake, push the start button, and listen to that cool exhaust turn on and go for a ride! Anyone care to join me?
Never understood why people buy cars and make them garage queens. I would understand if it was a collectible but the c7 is a mass production car...drive it like you stole it.
No thanks. Same disorder here, but I've still managed to put over 7500 miles on mine in almost 2 years (April 24th). This works fine for me and still get all the enjoyment of owning the car.

I have finally seen the light. And....I'll be checking my rear view mirror.
I got rained on during the drive home from the dealer, so got that out of the way early
I am one of those people that absolutely HATES detailing though. I don't know what people see in it... to me it is back breaking WORK. So, for that reason alone, I try not to drive it in the rain if I can avoid it. I do enjoy it looking pretty, just not the process of getting it there.
Driving is the best part though, so sometimes, to hell with what other people think... DRIVE!

Maybe I'll drive down there to Yukon and look you up and buy you a beer. That would be a fun trip via route 66. Rain or shine!

Thanks. My finish is good enough. A good coat of wax and 3M bra. Fun to come!

All of you "my C7 has never been in the rain" owners do realize that every C7 goes into the water test booth where high pressure jets spray over 1,400 gallons of water onto the car, right?
Mine was out in the rain today. Not the first time it's been driven in the rain and it won't be the last. I'll clean I up when this cold snap passes.
I drove mine home from the museum in rain the just about the whole way - 2100 miles. It got rained on, I got two chips in the front and a small ding on one of the headlights. We got stuck behind trucks slinging mud and rocks on us, but it was an awesome road trip. Some of you guys would've had a coronary I guess.
The car did great, and it looks great. I didn't buy it to save it for the next owner. I say get out there and drive it, it's a hell of a lot more fun to drive than it is to wax.

Amen! I just got back from a drive at my wife's suggestion. Loved every bit of it, and it rained like hell. I wouldn't have done that if it wasn't for her. I'm glad she straightened me out on this "can't get the car dirty" business.

Have to admit, if it's raining and the wife is not using her SUV, I take it! However the Vette is my DD so as long as it's not a torrential downpour I take the Vette when she may need to use her car.
I took the Vette on one rainy day the 16 miles into town and it started to rain very hard. Took the back roads home but still had to go thru some deep puddles, water coming up on the sides and the wipers at top speed the whole way. Got back to our development and had to turn around on a narrow road because of a very deep water section and fortunately was able to take alternate roads where the puddles were "navigable!"
I'll still check the weather and if a heavy downpour is likely, take the wife where she needs to go in her SUV and do what I need and pick her up!!
For long trips we always take the SUV, prefer it on Interstates where I sit high and can handle truck tire treads in the road!
Smart Wife with good advice. It is amazing all the post you read about owners buying the latest voodu magic coatings, sealants, waxes, towels and the list goes on. Nothing magic about the paint on a Corvette, drive it and enjoy it.
When you feel like it wash it and dry it and guess what it will look good.
The best thing is you will be getting real value out of your Corvette by driving it versus obsessing over the non issues.
