Any speculation on changes in the 17's? I'm VERY close to factory ordering a '16 ZO6 before they cut production to concentrate on the GS. Only changes that I know that are in stone is the loss of the 2 colors. There has been speculation of the 10 speed but that doesnt matter to me cause I want a M7.

Still speculation... Based on the information released on the GS, it appears that there will not be any bump in HP... at least for the NA engine.

The '17 Z06 production will be delayed, as parts will presumedly be scavenged for the GS. As such, their availability is not expected until fall.

If you want a Z06, then I'd say get it now... or you'll be waiting a while...

Default Wait !

You are only 5 weeks out from the bash at which time all that which is new for '17 should be presented to the public. There will be a period of several weeks after during which a '16 M Y can be ordered if you should still want one. Considering the heat soak issues on the '15/'16 Z06 when run hard, my preference would be to wait. Considering what is now available in the new performance catalog upgrade wise for the Z06 as pertains to the cooling issues, I would not be surprised to see the '17 incorporate such as factory installed.

Heat soak is less prone with the M7, and any related remedy parts will most likely will be available for retrofitting, w/possible TSBs to follow. I wouldn't worry about the heat soak boogieman, unless you plan to regularly track your car... IMO.

There has been some discussion about autostart and will it appear on the 17 Vette. Strictly rumor/discussion at this point. The only reasons I can see to buy now include, do you want one of the four colors that are being eliminated and, of course, the big reason to buy now, getting your C7 as soon as possible.

True. Otoh, I'd sooner have it come from the factory with the up grades rather than doing so after the fact. Little thing called factory warranty.

Will any of the 2017's benefit from the new paint shop? I'm thinking of holding-off until the 2018's. Patience young Jedi, patience.

All things considered I would definitely wait. Not like you have found the Corvette you want at the local dealer and you can go pick it up today and drive it. You said you are going to order. There may be some changes or improvements worth having so again wait a few weeks and make an informed decision. Then you will never have to say "I wish I had waited."

What if there are some significant improvements to the 2017's and you just bought a 2016. We don't know the actual reason why the 2017 Z06 is being delayed. What if the 2017 just happened to have a DCT(not saying it will)?

Since the GS will use parts already tooled up, I doubt I there will be a shortage of parts for the Z06. I think there has to be another reason for the delay in the release of the 2017 Z06.

My gut feeling is that they won't talk about the 2017 Z06 at the bash, because if they are planning on any improvements, they don't want to do anything to prevent the dealers from unloading the 2016 Z06's on their lots.

Im going to wait for an announcement. At least the announcement is before they cut FO's for the 16s. If I do end up getting a 17, its gunna suck cause I wanted to use it during this summer. And also I hate waiting .

You can wait forever... Maybe the '18s will be cooled by liquid nitrogen, imagine what the '19s will hold... Maybe he should just wait and get a C8... or not

BTW, a TSB, if issued, would be covered under warranty, but certainly you already knew that...

No one is suggesting that you wait "forever", just long enough to see what the 2017's will be.

I don't think the new paint shop is coming on line till spring of 17 and some of them should get painted but it may take some time to get it right. If that's a deciding factor I would wait till 2018 but look at all the fun you will miss out of.

GM originally stated spring of 2017 as operational target date for the new corvette paint facility, however Tadge recently stated a Fall 2017 target date. So, it appears the target date has slipped a few months.
Based on this, I expect the 2018 models to be the first to be painted in the new facility.
