Assembly plant only builds what the dealers order....... it may be true that GM puts pressure on dealers to place a specified # of orders to meet a designated target, but the fact remains the plant only builds cars that are dealer ordered.

Yup…I also understand that. However, as you probably know, any dealer with decent allocation always wants to maintain that allocation unless sales get really bad, in that they want to be able to get cars during the next increase in demand. And as you indicated above, ultimately GM can control/manage the production in any way they see fit. Naturally GM doesn't care about my opinion, but as a lifetime marketing guy I just get frustrated knowing how much they could further enhance Corvette's image if they managed the sales end differently…Oh well……..
