Hi all
I'm ready to buy my first C7 and would like opinions on getting the
Z51 pkg. Does it make the car more appealing down the road when its
time to trade. Any opinions are appreciated
thanks
Ike
I traded a C5 for a C7 2LT non-Z51 coupe with the performance exhaust. I couldn't be happier.
From: Calgary, AB. There's a reason why white was the only color offered on every year Corvette. Proud Canadian German Jamaican!

yeah, assuming you purchased the car new in the first place. You're going to lose money regardless, the same could be said if you bought a convertible, your depreciating is more than a coupe, the question was though, what is more attractive to someone when going to resell the car. I'm betting my Z51 would sell a lot quicker than a similarly equipped non at the same price and in the end isn't that what's more important in most cases, the speed in which you sell your car?
OP said trade, dealers look up your car's book value, do all the adds and deducts and then assign a value based on the Black Book, the Z51 package is an add therefor it WILL get you more value than a non Z51 optioned car.
I have a 2016AW 2LT Z51 I thought hard on this - I Didn't want to pay th Z51 price at all nor 2LT I wanted cheep price in to the club. That car fell through in fla deal.
Atlanta had one and on phone sales man ran numbers for me for bank and said he has aw non z's if I really wanted cheaper one .... it was not that much mor a month and the dif is like a wine you like and a wine you love! Some one else may or may not care for or taste the diff but you sure do. Test drive each and see what your seat of the pants taste buds say , if you can feel the difference then YOU NEED to go for it if you can afford it.
As to resale lol jest look at diff between a ss and non ss car from years ago... while it has little out side to show it a Z car will never recover all you spend on it but will be more desirable then a non z jest because it has suspension and race track oiling which is like the diff also on big block or small block
Big block performance is worth more then small block then and now.
The 3LT is top line options and does not add to seat of the pants flavor on go power and go power is why many buy a vette, the 2LT adds the most band for buck in inside eye candy
Buy what you will enjoy most... I an glad I did.

I want anything that will improve handling or might make the car peform better. That's for me, right now. But the sales figures suggest that a lot if others think similarly and I believe the same would apply to used car buyers.
If you do not NEED the options that come with the Z51 pkg. save your money. You will not see any profit when you sell the car, most people have no idea what the Z51 options are.
NO
NO
Unless you find somebody who is going to track the car, your Z51 package will not help you sell your car; nor, will you re-coupe your money for it.
I've never had a customer not buy a particular Corvette because it had Z51; I've had a good number not buy because the car did not have Z51. Just sayin'.

Take a look at KBB.com or a similar on line used vehicle pricing guide, and see how much value Z51 adds to a 2014. That will give you an idea going forward.
I suspect that from the point of resale or trade in the best return would be on a 1LT with no options other than automatic transmission. All mass produced cars depreciate, it's just a fact of life.
Not for me, it wouldn't. I ordered a base Stingray just like I wanted and am not worried about selling it. So far Z51's are depreciating faster than the base coupes.
Same here! Traded in my C5 and am enjoying the ride.

Yes, it can have an impact on resale. It might not bring any better of a price but it will open you up to more potential Customers. People who don't do anything with cars won't care whether it has it or not but the other guys who are looking for a new track vehicle will also look and may outbid the other people because they want the car. Plus there is a chance it will sell faster.
Exactly my point. If you only sell a Z51 for $1500 more than a base Stingray, you lost more money to depreciation.
Thank you. Thats what they don't understand. Thats a $3500 dollar depreciation hit . The more options you add the more depreciation. It may make it easier to sell but will never net you more money.
Are you buying the car for yourself or for the next owner who will get it for a lot less than you pay for it regardless? Seems to me that catering to the next owner is a back asswards reason to choose your options, especially if you trade. A dealer is going to be a lot less emotional about value than a private buyer.

Otoh, it can have the reverse effect. I would be extremely leery of a used Z51 coupe unless I personally knew the seller had never tracked the car.

On the 14s I liked the added options that were part of the package. I hear that is not the case anymore on the 15s and 16s
