Sold my '12 supercharged GS so that I could buy my '16 Z51... No regrets. Once you've been in the C7, you will understand Tadge's comment about the C6 being obsolete.

The tech grabbed me and pushed me into action. I have never regretted my decision to go with the C7 for one instant.

I have owned two C5 Z06's and one C6 Z06 2008. I presently own the 2015 Z51 2LT A8 Midnight Race Blue. And can honestly say it's the best Vette ever and no need for the Z06. My 2015 in my eyes is every bit of the last generation Z06 and better. The A8 is awesome and the adjustable suspension as well as exhaust sound is over the top. I could buy the Z06 but just can't taste it and as far as the Grand Sport it's nice but you will pay top dollar since limited production. The deals on 2016 Corvettes are right now and your car will depreciate even more over another model year. And to each his own but I just can't get excited about trying to look like a Z06 but it's not. Hope you come to terms with your decision that makes sense to you.

Go drive a clean, nicely equipped, used one (C7) and put-it-through-its-paces...keep it for a weekend...then decide.
That way, you'll be completely sure which car you like better...

I don't take your question as disrespect, it's wholly valid.

After seeing the improvements in the C7 from the C6, particularly the interior, I was sort of sold. I really, really avoided viewing any C7 up close and personal until today because I knew I'd be motivated to buy one if I did.

I haven't even had my GS two years. Nothing that says two years from Monday (if I buy the C7) I won't trade up again
Makes everything completely clear to me! And I will also say, it's completely understandable about being attached to the marque vs. the specific car.

And, as to NOT getting up close to the new car for fear of wanting one, all I can say is, I went to a dealer and the head tech said there was a new (at the time) A8 in the lot as of the day before. And did I want to drive it---I said no, three times. You, and others can guess why.

I went from a loaded 2005 coupe with Z51 and 6-speed manual to my present 2015 2LT Z51 coupe with 7-speed manual and magnetic ride control. The improvements in ride, handling, build quality, steering feel, sounds (both exhaust and the audio system) are phenomenal. I totally loved my '05 every day of the 9 years I owned it but this C7 plays in a totally different league. The magnetic ride control is fantastic; you can feel significant differences among the 3 suspension settings. The electrically-assisted power steering is great. Not only does it provide excellent feel, but I really like the adjustability (3 different settings). Then there's the exhaust. I didn't have NPP in my '05 (it wasn't available then) but have it in my '15; from inside the cabin it sounds beastly (in a very good way). If you've ever heard the exhaust of a 1973 or '74 Pontiac Trans Am SD-455 you'll know exactly what I mean. Perhaps the most telling reason to make the move is the way you'll feel in your head and heart while driving the C7. Mine is much, much more emotionally exhilarating than the '05 ever was. Do it - you'll be glad you did.

Curious , you said money is not an issue and that you have been pre-approved. To me , money is an issue as I would need to know the difference between the current car and the 16 . In other words, how much will it cost you to make the move. I would not be making the move "at any price" and you would not either.

I know exactly what the difference between my current car and this one will be. The price points are virtually the same if you can believe it.

I actually ran the numbers with the dealership first, which is how was approved. If the car was already on the lot, I'd be in it right now.

Not following your math. Disposing of your current ride and getting the c7 costs you zero ?

No down payment.

Monthly payments are only $100 more than I pay now.

Interest rate is the same as I pay now.

100.00 x number of months equals x what is x ? is the term of the loan the same or is it being extended to 84 months , is any amount being added to the balance of the loan ?

Why don't you say the true cost of the decision ? I assume you know this. You asked for help/ advice, or did you just want everyone to validate the decision you have already made ? If I misunderstood I'm sorry , yes the c7 is better in every respect .

With all due respect, since I opened the door for it, I don't think delving into the financials of my deal is warranted. I can easily afford the car payments and the increase in those payments with this car vs my current car are negligible. Ergo, money is not a concern to me in this instance. I have a truck that is fully paid for and in great condition, so this car would be like my current car. A toy I enjoy whenever I want sans winter or severe weather like mad rainy days.

The purpose of the the thread was to solicit opinions from those who made the jump from the C6 to the C7. Had I posted this thread in the C6 section, I'd get a bunch of feedback from people who don't yet have a C7 and wouldn't have the same frame of reference that I'm try to gauge an opinion on.

Again, I appreciate your wanting me to consider the financials, but I already have and I don't buy things I can't afford.

Let me add, that your inquiry is further appreciated because with two years warranty left on a car I'm satisfied with otherwise is certainly cause for me to think about whether I want to increase my car payments or not.

A part of me is wondering if I should bother trading up tomorrow as opposed to waiting a little longer. So thank you for being brave enough to broach the subject even further

Had an'05 C6 Z51 Coupe M6 for 6.5 years and now have a '14 C7 Base Coupe A6 with Z51 sway bars for 2.5 years. The C7 improvements are well worth getting one, if financials not an issue. You won't regret it!

Edit: And when the '17 C7 GS start to show up at Dealers I will consider getting one, if financials work for me.

I'm glad you didn't take this the wrong way .
I did go from a C6 to C7 and there is no looking back.

No, didn't take it the wrong way at all!

It is an impulse that is driving my motivation. Better to have someone outside of my sphere of influence question the financial part as you are more objective about it than my family or friends are.

One thing for sure, you might be right about not looking back.

After merely sitting in one, I was ready to deal. I sat in a Z06 first and ran the numbers side by side with the Stingray and I was tempted to go for the Z, but my better judgement kicked in.

At $90k, the Z was more car than wanted in more ways than one. The Stingray I'm going for tomorrow is $60k as equipped and more in line with what I want and can easily afford.

Tomorrow is going to be an exciting and frustrating day

Below is an example of the C7 that I have been pre-approved for:

It's a 2LT and unlike the one above, I think this one might have black wheels.

I still have 2 years or about 40,000 more miles of GMPP on my current GS. I'm happy with the car and it's never given me a day's trouble.

I guess the bug has just hit me as I don't get overly attached to cars and after sitting in a new C7 for the first time (sat in a Z06 today too, but costs more than I'm willing to pay).

I'm just looking for some objective opinions. What would do if you were me?

I have until Monday to make a decision. The C7 is pretty much mine if I want it and my wife is okay with me trading up if want.

Thanks in advance for any replies.
Do it!!!

I drove a c7 on a Saturday, sold my c6 (2005 which I'd had for pretty much the entire run of the c6s) and delivered it to the buyer on Monday and ordered my c7. I've had her two years now. Zero regrets.

Mine is white, too. 3LT, though, as I got anxious and cancelled my 2LT order and flew out sooner to pick up Sugar and drive her home!
