C7 - 2 problems
Just so you all know I'm parked on the end space..........not taking up 2 spaces.
- Brakes squeak
Dealer Maintenance said, "Yeah we get that a lot. Sorry, there's no fiX for that."
So I have to drive a brand new car with squeaky brakes that can't be fixed - un****ing believable!
- Driver seat will dislocate your hip
Driver seat OK for short rides around town but after a while you will notice how uncomfortable you are.
The side bolsters are too high and too stiff and too close together.
Your femur bone is forced into unnatural angle wrt hip socket and eventually you have pain in legs and in hips.
However this is fixable. I had seat repair specialist remove seat and then cut out the offensive bolster padding- ~$200. Now comfortable like all other cars in the world.
- Also no spare - Ok around town but what do you do if you get a flat half way between LA and Vegas(230 miles)?
.

My brakes squealed once (Z51) after the first 200 miles when I pulled it into my shop just before the car came to a complete stop - that 200 miles was the drive home from the dealer. Never heard them again with about 4600 miles on the car now. There was a published bulletin about this involving the application of a paste on the ends of the pucks IIRC.
Found it - you can Google it yourself for the details.

You can go a long way on your run flat iron tires. You might also carry a simple tire plug kit and a small air pump, or a can of fix-a-flat.
The spacing between the side bolsters needs to be wider.
Seat comfort is personal and you are not the first to complain about it. The majority of owners do not find the seats uncomfortable, but again, we are not all built the same... Try adjusting the tilt and see if you cannot find a better position.
I recently hurt my back and found driving the C7 nearly impossible for more than a couple of blocks. MRI showed an issue that will not heal, so I considered selling the car. I found that adjusting the seat back to a more upright position and wearing a support belt eliminated the pain so I'm back to enjoying my car again. Play with the adjustments.
Run flats are fine for most situations, but you also have roadside assistance as a part of the ownership deal w/ the C7. So for me, I wouldn't sweat it.
Our new MINI came with run flats (and no spare) which I immediately replaced with Conti DW summers (non-run-flats). I only have roadside if I get a flat.

Look at page 166 in the 2016 Owner's Manual under what GM calls Brake Burnishing. Everyone else calls it bedding and you can google and gets lots of info on why that is needed particularity on performance pads. Since you are not racing no need to do what they describe 25 times, but 8 to 10 hard stops from 60 mph to 20 to 30 mph are needed one after the other. Just need a place to do it safely. Had the OEM pads for a year and no noise at all. Switched to Carbotech 1521 pads to get ride of the brake dust and no noise at all.
Bedding gets a coating of brake pad material to uniformly coat the rotors. Good luck.
Second Issue: I find the C7 seats perfect. Better than my wife's top of the line BMW X5 SUV seats! It takes a bit of fine tuning the adjustments assuming you have a 2LT or 3LT interior. I have the rear set down, the front up and the back tilted. Have to adjust the lumbar support to fit your back. Finally got the wife's SUV where I'm comfortable and it even has a front movable section. It's now OK for long trips, which is what we use, but still not as good as the C7.
Third issue: Run flats will hold air a long time with a nail. I have a small air compressor in the rear compartment with a small tire plug kit.

If not that could solve your problem. It did mine and lived with the excess brake dust for a year then switched to Carbotech 1521's, 80% less dust and no squeal!

In fact if you're not tracking the car why live with the excess brake dust on Z51/Z06 pads?? I did for a year, that was a year too long! I was having to clean my wheels after two trips to town, ~100 miles. Now with the Carbotech 1521's only clean them when I wash the car! It stops the same as the OEM pads and even better when they are cold.
