Default C7 - 2 problems

2 problems with C7

- Brakes squeak
Dealer Maintenance said, "Yeah we get that a lot. Sorry, there's no fiX for that."
So I have to drive a brand new car with squeaky brakes that can't be fixed - un****ing believable!

- Driver seat will dislocate your hip
Driver seat OK for short rides around town but after a while you will notice how uncomfortable you are.
The side bolsters are too high and too stiff and too close together.
Your femur bone is forced into unnatural angle wrt hip socket and eventually you have pain in legs and in hips.
However this is fixable. I had seat repair specialist remove seat and then cut out the offensive bolster padding- ~$200. Now comfortable like all other cars in the world.

- Also no spare - Ok around town but what do you do if you get a flat half way between LA and Vegas(230 miles)?

Sounds like you solved the problem.

We travel cross country in our vettes (have since 2002) and we have never had an issue. run flats work...

Corvettes have not had spare tires for many years. This is the rare case where the argument that it adds weight holds true. Brakes on my CTS squeal... i was told it had to do with the chemicals in the wheel cleaners being used, at least by a Corvette mechanic... dunno how true that is...

No squeaks on my brakes and my seats are really comfortable.

Good luck!

I'm 67 and my wife and I put 2300 miles on the C7 in six days. The longest day was 500 miles with only gas & food breaks. My back and butt never suffered. It's more comfortable than my wife's Avalon. It is a 3LT but I didn't think that made any difference in padding.

Edited to add:
My brakes have never squealed. If they did and GM wouldn't help, I'd talk to a brake shop. Squealing brakes can be fixed even if you have to change pads. Don't let something that simple sour your Corvette experience.

1997- 2016 Corvettes do not have a spare tire, jack or lug wrench. They have run-flat tires

You actually knew all this BEFORE you bought the Corvette, right? You really wanted a CORVETTE, right? Not a Honda, right?

No squealing brakes, seats are perfect, and runflats will get you 50 miles.

2014 with 23K on the clock and no squeals here. The seat bolsters were a problem for me too, till I drilled them and now much better. I guess if your arss is skinny enough its fine but there have been a lot of complaints about the bolsters on the forum.

A lot more cars than just Corvettes have run flat tires with no spare and it would have happened earlier but some states were very resistant to changing state laws that required a spare to be included with new cars. Run-flat tires will go quite some distance driven at lower speed and you can always buy an inflation/repair kit to do a temporary patch if you are really worried. It won't be very long before finding a car with a spare instead of either run-flats or an emergency repair/inflation kit will be a rarity. The space and weight of even a small spare doesn't fit the equation for increasingly rigorous economy and safety standards not to mention styling and space utilization.

A flat tire is only one of the many things that can go wrong with a car on a long stretch of empty road. Quite a few people will find it impossible to remove a wheel either from corrosion buildup from the wheel to the hub or from a mechanic who was overly enthusiastic with the impact wrench.

My Z06 has competition seats and I drove it back from the museum, ~370 miles, with only a short stop for fuel and I found the seats to be as comfortable as those in my Cadillac for long trips. I would not hesitate to take the Z06 for one of my one day (800 mile) trips to the MS gulf coast.

My brakes sometimes squeak on the first exit from the garage after not being driven for a few days but it isn't a problem on the road. There are different pads/compounds that can be selected for less noise and less brake dust but performance brake pads are not going to be the quietest type around.

First I heard squeaky brakes on the C7. I suggest you take it to another dealer near you. Just don't tell them you took it to the other dealer.

As for the seats, sounds like "your" body is having a problem, not the seats. The bolsters on mine adjust so I don't have the problem you described

Yes, there is no spare. What, you didn't know that before you bought the car?

As a side note, where would you suggest they put a spare

Brake squeal:
I get that (in my 14): only in certain weather conditions, only in reverse (like backing out of my driveway). IIRC, There was a TSB on it, something about adding (copper based?) anti squeal past on the pad shims, or something like that. Not guaranteed to work.

Seat discomfort:
Try taking your wallet out of your back pocket.
That will change the angle in which you are in the seat, and likely make it much more comfortable, as your left/right hip joints will be more or less even, instead of the wallet side being higher.

Tires are run flats. IIRC, spec'ed up to 200 miles up to 50-mph with no pressure.

Run it up to 100 mph, then brake hard. That usually cleans up my brake squeal.

You need to bed your brakes.

I don't mean to sound like an ***, but you knew this is as a high performance sports car, right? I've not seen experienced brake squeak, so I can't comment there. As for seats, see above, it's a sports car, not a Cadillac

Sounds like a trip to the dealer to trade in on a Cadillac would "solve" these "problems".

My Cadillacs, SRX & ATS, brakes all squeaked all the time (dealer said nothing wrong) and none of them had spares. My Z51 occasionally squeaks after washed and sitting in the garage. Knock on wood, no issues with the run-flats.
