Bumping this thread since I’ve got a mouse problem- nest build up in the cabin air filter...
... where do people suggest putting the fabric softener sheets at? Also not sure how they got deep into it, so wondering what duct they got into- that may answer my previous question...
thanks everyone.
This seems to be the consensus in regard to softener sheets:
Some smells repel mice for a short period of time, like cigarette smoke and certain colognes," says Ron Harrison of Orkin Pest Control in Atlanta. Therefore, the Bounce dryer sheets might work for a day or two, but then you're just likely to have chewed up dryer sheets! "But mice are extremely curious.
Get a cat or what Rebel stated.

A cat is good. I (and I know I'm probably the only one) collect all of the black snakes, and king snakes in our neighborhood. I put them down in the woods behind the garage for some added help. All of my neighbors are scared of snakes (like most), and call me for the pick up.

My garage is part of my pole barn and even though I am down to just one barn cat now she is a mouse killing machine. I don't collect snakes but they find their way into my barn too, no doubt to hunt the mice. Mice can get through incredibly small spaces and are virtually impossible to keep out, so something to kill them is very important. After mice ate the spark plug wires on one of my cars I got a cat and I have not had a problem since.
Cats are all you need. Kona just finished gutting a practice mouse. Sunna likes guarding my stand up desk but will catch and kill anything small that moves:
We’ve used dryer sheets For yrs and they’ve done a pretty good Job. Make sure they are the OG scent they are suppose to work the best. And replace them every once in a while to keep them fresh
This is is probably extreme but for winter storage I use about 60 or so dryer sheets all over the car inside and out. I put them in the wheels on top and inside. Tail pipes a few stuffed in each. And all around the car where I can get them. Inside the car same theory...all over the place and then every month I change them. I also place mouse traps with pb around the wheels because that’s how the mice get in the car. This yr I waited longer than normal to store the car and found a mouse in the trunk,,,,,I tore the car apart and didn’t find any more but in 4 years of owning this car 15 yrs of owing boats and mobile home the dryer sheets have ALWAYS worked....
