Having the factory PDI may be a good argument. All the ego stroking and "appreciation" I could do without.
The delivery charge put on all vehicles is an average cost. They all pay the same if you live in KY or CA or wherever. That's why it's still on the car. Not a trucker's union conspiracy.
You don't have to get Museum Delivery to go and enjoy the museum or take a factory tour. You can go anytime you like as a 1 year membership is included with all new Corvettes. Travel there and hotel for a weekend is a lot less than $1,000.
I'm a retired union man of 40 years, say what you want but delivery charges were in the contracts!
A fellow Corvette owner did the museum pick up, and had not only a road rash beating of his new Corvette, but also laid up with a flat tire. The miles approaching 1,000 ALL Interstate. He swore he'd never do it again. He's also a Chevy dealer Corvette Specialist! If you want to do a museum pick up go for it. YMMV!
Everybody doesn't live on skid road, and spending 70k plus for a car the experince is worth it! Drove about 600 miles to Richmond Va. on nice roads. In the end everybody has their own opinion rather it's genuine or not!
I want to thank everyone for their replies. I guess the wife overheard me trying to decide if I was going to do the museum delivery. My wife did some research and she and my kids gave me the photo option as a Father's Day gift. I have decided to do the musiem delivery and now the photo option as wel. Now I need to know if doing the build option is a waste since I'm doing the museum delivery. If you did both please let me kmow if you would do both again. It was a good Father's Day!!

Right now, we have two, one for me and one for the wife.
I thought the engine build program was more than worth the money. I turned every bolt on the engine. I now have a bond with this car that I have not had with any other. I would do it again in a heartbeat. This is a link to a thread I started about the experience with pictures. https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...xperience.html
I think I called it the wrong name. I'm considering the tour you where you watch you car being built but not assisting with the building.

Oh...you are talking about the buyers tour. I did not get to do that one because I could not make a third trip to BG. I have seen other threads with people that have done it though. It sounds like a worthwhile experience.
I've done it 4 times. Doing it again in September. Each time I took a different route home to CA - each one a fun adventure!
Entrance to the Assembly Plant
That is Pretty Cool! My last three have all been off the dealer lot (usually saving money by getting a leftover once the new model comes out). Looks like I'm missing out....
Making this choice is up to you alone. My choice was yes, I have two deliveries one for my 2002 Electron Blue Convertible and the second my 2014 Red convertible. It is an EXPERIENCE, not just a pick up and drive away. As previous posters have stated, their is nothing like seeing your car on the NCM Floor, and when they drive it out, people on the floor stop and applaud as the car departs for its new home. If I get another Corvette, it will be a NCM Delivery too.
I have decided to participate in the museum delivery, photo book option (present from my kids for Father's Day) and buyers tour. I figure I will bite the bullet and do it once. Thanks for all the responses, it really help me make up my mind. I'm currently scheduled to arrive in BG on 7/14 & 15.

I loved the buyers tour, it was an awesome experience. I had one really long day, start to finish, but you'll probably end up with two days.
I'm sure all of the guides are phenomenal; we had Dave and being a former employee, he not only knew everything about the car, the different stages of assembly and jobs, he knew all of the people working the line too. It was really cool hanging out with him and getting to share his knowledge.
Excellent choice doing both, I think you'll really enjoy it!
I am very excited and looking forward to next week. I have Dave as a tour guide also. This may sound like a crazy question, did you tip Dave at the end of the tour?
Since I am picking up my car at the museum, how do I pay for my car? If my car is completly built on 7/18/2016, how long will take for my dealer to receive an invoice?

Yes, I tipped Dave $50 to buy him a nice dinner. I actually ended up sending it after because I was too caught up in the excitement of everything, it just slipped my mind.
You have to pay the dealer you bought the car from. They should have an invoice at this point, I did everything via Fedex a week or so before I went to pick up the car. You should contact the selling dealer, I'm a little surprised they haven't contacted you. Enjoy, it's a really cool experience!
The car is not built yet, I go to BG on July 14 and 15. The vehicle will be completed by the 15. I was told by another source the dealer should get the invoice a week after the car is built.

I suppose that's up to your selling dealer. I've never gotten a new car and drove it off without paying for it first, but however they want to work the deal, it's up to them.

You seem to be confused. I assume you are doing the Buyers Tour to watch your car be built. It will be at least 2 weeks after that before you do the Museum Delivery. After the car is built, the dealer will contact you to do the sales contract. You should check this out:
I want to thank everyone who suggested the buyers tour. I finally did It today and as most said it was great. I saw a lot of Grandsports in every color combination. My tour guide was Dave and he was great. I'm finishing up Tommrrow at which time my car will be completed. I will then return for the musiem delivery. The build process was amazing!!

Awesome! Good for you. Wish I could do that along with the NCM delivery but just can't work it in. Glad you were able to have the experience. Hope you will share more details of what you did and what you saw.
I got a phone call telling me my car will be at the museum Tomm Monday 25th. I'm scheduled to pick it up the week of Aug 8th. My wife and I are flying into Nasville and then diving to the NCM. We are thinking about spending a few days before driving back to Maryland. For those who have made that trip, can you recommend must see sights. I was also thinking about trying to hit a portion of RT. 66 for a few photos, but that looks out of the way. Thanks in advance for your suggestions.
