I got a phone call telling me my car will be at the museum Tomm Monday 25th. I'm scheduled to pick it up the week of Aug 8th. My wife and I are flying into Nasville and then diving to the NCM. We are thinking about spending a few days before driving back to Maryland. For those who have made that trip, can you recommend must see sights. I was also thinking about trying to hit a portion of RT. 66 for a few photos, but that looks out of the way. Thanks in advance for your suggestions.
QUOTE=Mike1C7;1592631167]Awesome! Good for you. Wish I could do that along with the NCM delivery but just can't work it in. Glad you were able to have the experience. Hope you will share more details of what you did and what you saw.

Might be information overload but check out the roadtripamerica.com web site. It has a lot of information about attractions, but like I said might be information overload.
You should also check out the tail of the dragon since you will be driving during off peak time. And then also roll along the blue ridge parkway.
Most of all, take your time and enjoy the delivery experience and certainly enjoy the new ride.
I chose NCM delivery for my 2013 C6 in November 2012. Had a great trip back to Houston via Natchez Trace Parkway - beautiful fall colors. R8C was $490 back then vs $990 now so the second time when I order my C7 this fall I'll do the buyer's tour instead since the factory was closed the first time to re-tool for the C7. Gotta say that for a first time buyer, NCM delivery was nirvana.
Isn't the issue with museum delivery the long road home for most of us and the requirement to properly break in the engine (not just travelling the interstate in cruise control)? Or am I missing something?

I would check with your dealer to see if R8C is available for you.
There are many roads to take beyond the interstate. You can break your car in however you choose just like when you are at home. If you are ordering a Z51, GS, or Z06 with dry sump and are worried about the oil change at 500 miles, I am sure you can stop by any dealer to perform it while you are travelling (just plan it in to your trip).

Even in you drive the interstate, it's easy enough to change speeds and change gears instead of just staying on cruise control. It was easy enough to break in per recommendations while driving interstate from BG --> Chicago.
For the 500 mile oil change, it's not urgent unless you are really pushing the car. Nothing bad would actually happen with normal or even somewhat spirited driving if you wait until 800, 1000 etc... (If you took it to a track or were otherwise pushing the limits of the car, that's a different story) But if you wanted to, you could always schedule an oil change in advance at a dealer about 500 miles from BG.
Hey I have a crazy question. I understand when you Do the musiuem delivery you get a special engraved plac that goes on the dash that includes your vin and whatever else you want on it. That's not extra but part of the package.
Now when you get regular delivery you still get the same plac, just with stingray or Grandsport written on it. That is also part of the new car package.
My question is since I am doing the musieum delivery why do I only get one of the two. If I am paying for them both, shouldn't I get both of them? Has anyone Elsa had this issue?

Why would you want both?
There is only so much room on the center stack and it is mounted low (just in front of the shifter). I guess it would just be a keep sake, but I never even thought about it. Guess you could ask the the people at the museum for it.
For the museum delivery, you also get the sticker that your guide will apply where ever you want it (I think most people get it applied on the door jamb next to the striker) and a wood plaque that you can display at home.

Your probably right that it would not be a big deal to go over the 500 mile oil change in a Z51 or Z06 but if something did happen I would think that GM might use that opportunity to blame you for not getting the oil changed if something went wrong.
I am distrustful of dealers and service writers because I always seem to have problems with them. The oil change at 500 miles will be the only oil change a dealer does for me on my way back to Houston from NCM. I always change my on oil and document with receipts and a service journal.
Also, you can be sure I will be standing right there watching them change my oil. I certainly don't want the issues I have read about with dealers who don't know how to change the oil on a Corvette!
You walk into the Museum and there is your car........PRICELESS
I also had the #8 spot.
The feeling of opening the doors to the museum and the first car you see is yours .... Incredible feeling.
On top of this, waiting at the front doors for one of the guys to unlock the door, followed by then looking at the #8 spot ... looking at your cap ... looking at the #8 spot again saying ... "That must be your car" ...
Also Priceless.
Yes, the colors were intentionally chosen to represent my alma mater. Orange and Blue through and through.
Does anyone know of a good way to get from Nashville airport to Bowling Green? 1 hour plus drive but thinking Uber? Anyone do shuttles? The to rent a car since I'm picking up my GS to drive home.

Rent a car from Enterprise. Turn the keys into the folk at the museum and they take car of the rest.

That was what we were going to do. Just got email from Shane at the NCM who advised our car would be complete on July 28. I gave him a preferred date in August to pick up the car.
He told me that the first Enterprise option was the discount rate which is preferred. The second Enterprise option is the Corporate Rate which is the back up discount rate in case car demand is high.
The NCM delivery option seems to have all the details covered for making this a very enjoyable experience.
