My plan for the car from the beginning was to go until either it or I couldn't any more and this isn't going to slow me down. Thanks.

I had a really low one from Craftsman and it pooped its hydraulics and I hadn't replaced it yet. I guess now's the time, or consider a lift.

Default Oops Update

I had the estimate made today at the local dealership. It came to just under $3,000, including repairing a curb scrape on the lower right part of the front bumper cover. A standalone estimate for that was over $700 but since the front had to come off anyway it only added about $150 to the total This isn't enough to bother the insurance company (or CARFAX) with. It goes in 8/24 and is supposed to be ready 8/31, just in time for the NCM Anniversary. I've bought touring laps so I don't want to miss out on those.

Mike if it any comfort here's my worse Corvette story. Had a C5. $13K in custom stuff including a painted/chrome engine bay.

I was **** about the car and had hit a varmint which damaged the underside of the front end. Only I knew it was there and you had to almost lay under the car to see it. Well I want the car perfect. Take it to the local chevy body shop who had a good reputation....said hey it's only $200 and one day. They went to jack it up and the jack slipped catching the radiator and shoved the radiator and the fancy paint work into the hood........

Chit happens!!

Good Luck!

Funny 15 years later I have a Z that costs twice as much as that C5 with the mods and drive it in the snow and when stuff happens I just shrug.

Mike,
Sorry about your little mishap. I feel for ya cause I did almost the same thing many years ago on my 69. Only difference, I did swear, and I'm not a sailor.
You'll get it repaired and it will be just like before.

I decided when I got my C5 that I wouldn't obsess over it and I've never been shy about tackling as much maintenance and modification as I feel like, so I carried that attitude over into my C7 and I sleep a lot better at night (especially away from home with it).

I'm going to ask the body shop manager if I can visit the car when it is at its most exposed and take some pictures. They have to take off the front and back bumper covers and most of the left side so it should be interesting. I'm not getting upset about it. I just hope it's ready for the first day of the NCM Anniversary event.

Default Jack Damage

I just did the same thing. I changed my brake pads to Power Stops Friday. Three wheels complete and the cars shoots the jack out from under it. It was a WTF moment to say the least. I am having the side skirt repaired as I write this but was going to have the rocker repair done over the winter. I'd really like to get a feel for the repair cost. I am subscribing to this thread. Can't wait to hear what this is gonna cost me. . Sorry about your mess too!!!!!!

There's more detail in an earlier post, but the total comes to just under $3K. For as much work as they have to do on mine I'm surprised it's not more.

Mike, best of luck repairing your car. It will be as good as day one.
At least you did the damage to your own car. Not someone else.

True. I assume this is not a shot of your car during a brake pad change. I'd like new wheels, but not that way.

IIRC, that's a guy whose tires were stolen outside a hotel in Katy, Texas.

Thanks for the update on the damage pricing.

Thanks for the update on the damage pricing.
You're welcome. As I posted earlier, the cost includes repairing a divot in the lower right corner of the front bumper cover, about an additional $150.

Thanks. I'm already getting withdrawal symptoms from not driving it until i take it in to the shop. As much rain as we're getting I don't want water getting into places it wouldn't ordinarily go.
