Just wondering what you guys do for custom stereos in the C7?
I have one showing up next week and every car I've had before this one has had an aftermarket stereo. I realize the C7 will have far less room than my other cars as they were 4 seater coupes, but what do you guys generally do/see?
I'm looking to utilize the stock head unit. Something small where I can still use some of the trunk space. Maybe a single 10 inch?
Give the stock Bose system a chance. I spent 10 years of my life working in the aftermarket stereo business and am incredibly picky about stereo systems and I even have to admit how impressed I am with the stock 10 speaker Bose system. That being said, if you decide it still isn't enough for you, I would check out a slim line 12" sub with a custom made enclosure designed specifically for your c7. It'll cost you more but you'll be much happier with it and it will save you tons of space.
I was about to pull the trigger on this until I had to purchase a new truck. But I will post up a pic later of a box I fell in love with. Wanted to conserve space, has room for 2 / 10's or a 12. I was going with the JL 13".
Be careful you will soon be hit with how the "vette" is not a luxury vehicle etc.. etc... same old high school stuff !!
I'm with the majority... the Blose is ' good enough'. Just barely. There's so little that can be done because the OEM head unit precludes real improvements. Sure, a dedicated amp'd sub would beef it up, but at the expense of profiling the weaknesses of the rest of the system. This is the first vehicle ever that I've left the audio stock; it's so barely adequate but l dunno how speaker(s) alone can truly cure it. The head unit is weak but we're stuck with it.

This is the first car I've owned where I haven't heavily upgraded the stereo system. "Good enough, just barely" describes my feelings exactly. If a nice solution comes along, I will probably try it but I haven't seen one yet.
From: Calgary, AB. There's a reason why white was the only color offered on every year Corvette. Proud Canadian German Jamaican!

Exactly.....to me it's adequate, nothing too amazing.
"Just barely..." accurately describes my vert, since top is down most of the time.
Thinking about adding a powered subwoofer, but limited space...
Hi,
I added a subwoofer to my 2016 Vert. Call Mark at VetteNuts. They sell a sub box for the Vert. I ordered the box from him, which was really nice. Had a 10" JLW3 sub, along with a 600 watt amp installed. I went with the 600w amp instead of the 500w amp, only because of the enclosed area of the Vert. Sounds awesome. They take out your existing 8" Bose sub box, it's in the area behind the tail lights in trunk. That's where they put the amp. I really happy on how it sounds.
My Brother in Law just purchased this 2016 1LT that has this PROFESSIONALLY build and installed in the car.
The portion in the far back, with the amps is just fit in exactly with no slop. The two little covers are removable to see the amps, and it's got LED lights around the amps. The entire cover is also removable by just lifting it off and then you can access everything inside. The portion in the back is about 3" thick.
The Speaker portion is just behind the two seats and it also just fits in the space without going anywhere.
Really well done if this is your thing....
He's thinking about removing it and selling it as it's not his thing either at age 79. All works off of the factory head unit.

Thanks!
This is kind of what I had in mind. You don't have a pic of that do you? Where is VetteNuts located?

I don't know..... I live about 3 hours away from my Brother in Law.
He is going to have a friend come over in the next few days, once the rain ends, to lift the top cover up, and take some pictures of what the AMPS are, as well as the Sub's. He's likely wanting to sell it, as it's not his thing. I asked him to get the manufacturers name, and model numbers for both the amps, as well as the Speakers.
I did see it last weekend, and heard it, but didn't crank it up. It did sound great, but again, didn't really crank it up at all. It was definitely professionally built. when he and I took the top cover off to take a quick look, you could see all the wood work looked like a furniture cabinetmaker did it. All the staples holding down the padded vinyl covering were all exactly lined up, evenly spaced, etc.
I did notice that whoever installed it, removed the little cubby hole cover in the back, left corner of the Vette. Not sure why, but if he removed the Stereo system, he will need to get another trap door cover.

I would really like to see this setup too if you have time to post a few pix! Sounds like just the ticket!
