Fuel additives??

Fuel additives??
Hello,
Well I do like to baby my C7, I do use tier one gas (Mobil or Chevron Premium) since they are closer to my house.
I want everyone's input on fuel additives, what brand (Lucas, Sea foam, Royal Purple, etc). How often do you use it, also I have read that you need an aftermarket funnel due that the original doesn't work very well.
Best regards and thanks in advance.

I only use Top Tier gas, but not Chevron since it isn't available locally.
Ever so often, I put a bottle of Chevron Concentrated Fuel System Cleaner in my cars gas tanks.
Locally, I only buy gas without ethanol, but on a trip, I sometimes have to burn E10. But as soon as I get home, I fill up with ethanol free gasoline.

1) I don't like social engineering.
2) I don't like the government telling me what I have to buy.
3) I don't like burning food in my cars when their are better alternatives.
4) I get better gas mileage with ethanol free gas.
5) I support the retailers that sell ethanol free gas, by buying their ethanol free gas, as I have two classic Corvettes and a riding mower which are not made to run on ethanol. If I buy E10 for my two newer cars, then it won't be available when I want to buy it for my 56 and 64 and my mower, as the low sales of the ethanol free gas will not be worth the trouble for my retailer to carry at his store.

True that the newer cars run fine on E10, but I run ethanol free gas whenever possible for several reasons.
1) I don't like social engineering.
2) I don't like the government telling me what I have to buy.

Yes. I also ran E10 in my '66 after about 2005 when it became mandated in this area, and had no issues for the eight years 'til I sold it. Might have trouble with old-stock rubber fuel hoses, though. Not sure what mine were but likely were replaced somewhere along the line to a more modern composition.

Stabil, Lucas, Sea Foam, etc are a total waste of money and time spent to buy them. The only thing I heard universal approval of is Techron. And if I was using mostly top tier gas I would never use Techron

No need for any additives, save your money.

Yes, theoretically about 3% better mileage based on the BTU reduction. The E0 gas you're running probably costs much more than 3% over E10, or at least it does in my area. I ran some tests on my 2007 EFI Harley and found that there was no measurable difference in mileage or performance between E0 and E10. It has an aftermarket tuner installed that gives precise data in many areas including fuel consumption.
Modern mowers should run fine on E10. Mine is a 2006-vintage Craftsman ZTR (B&S engine) and has only run E10 with no problems.
5) ...and a riding mower which are not made to run on ethanol.

It's probably not necessary, but I treat w/ Chevron Techron Total Fuel System Cleaner every 4K miles or so. The manual recommends using an approved additive if you do not use Top Tier fuel, but I always do.

Probably a good idea to run a top tier, and maybe the occasion techron for the Injector since it is now located in the combustion chamber.
You don't get hardly any cleaning of the valves though which is the major issue with GDI engines.
Now if a SEAFOAM dump into the intake, would that help with the deposits on the back of the valves? That might be a good idea. ( not to the FUEL ) I have no idea if this will actually help on this motor, i've seen videos of people dumping it right down the throttle throat.
if someone on the forum has done that, then exposed the intake valves that would be an excellent post.

Lucas Injector and Carburetor Cleaner works! My 1970 Corvette often sits for 3 or 4 months at a time and the fuel in the carburetor dries out and and will cause the needle and seat to stick open. If I run a bottle of Lucas Injector and Carburetor Cleaner through occasionally I never have an issue. I know several other guys who own classic cars and have the same issue and solve the problem the same way, that's where I learned to run Lucas occasionally. I also know several owners of classic cars that have solved stuck fuel gauge floats in their fuel tank by adding a bottle of Lucas, as it seems to do exactly as advertised and both clean and lubricate.
So bottom line.... anyone that calls it snake oil has no clue what they are talking about. How much it actually helps in a modern C6 I have no clue, but I run a bottle through every 6 month's because I do know it cleans the fuel system. I also normally run Chevron gas, which has Techron, mostly because that's the closest gas station to my home.
YMMV

I use top tier gas so I don't add any additives. I used to add Techron in my C5 because of the problems with the gas level sensor but that's been corrected in the C7 so no more additives.
