You can change the icons on your home screen to have it located easily there. Like say take off the weather icon, and add the park assist camera icon instead.
In Michigan the weather app isn't reliable anyway!

Tried the reverse to drive, but that's annoying

QFT. Customization of the infotainment is a life saver. You can even rearrange your home screen! I put the "useless" icons on page 2.
Navtool will give you a front camera. It will display on your NAV screen. It also comes on rev/1st or manually on at your command. My 2014 has it and it is great at protecting the front low hanging stuff on my car. Perfect solution for the 14s and 15s that don't have a front camera.
Old thread revival here. I just bought a new C7 with the camera and so far I find it kind of worthless. Most times I pull into a parking spot with a curb in front the color of the concrete does not vary enough to tell the difference between the curb and the ground. Very hard to see for me. It would have been much better with parking sensors.
I suppose I could be reading my owner's manual but it's much more fun to be on this forum. My front cameras don't come on automatically all the time. I was under the impression that anytime you were moving forward below 5 mph the front cameras were active. This is not the case my GS M7. Is there a setting I need to change.
Below 5 mph, On the infotainment screen if camera icon is there hit camera icon. If icon is not there, hit home button then camera icon.

There is no setting but the easy thing to do is for GM to wire it's use to one of the paddle shifters. All auto & manual trans C7's have paddle shifters. Its a P.I.T.A. to have to look away from your driving when pulling into, say, a tight garage and push the icon. Just flip a paddle - ON. No biggie - at <5 mph you obviously are not up or down shifting. You're welcome.

yes the resolution could be much better but I’d way rather have cameras than annoying sensors.

Well that's what makes the world interesting. Yesterday I pulled over a curb (thankfully) because it looked like the curb was flat and matched the ground perfectly. Seems to me a sensor would be cheaper and more effective. Maybe I'll get better at it with time.

what year do u have? It was still suboptimal in my ‘17. I heard ‘18 and ‘19 cameras are better.
I'm still trying to get a solid feeling for the lines and how ]front] close I really am!
I know what you mean. I have a red stripe in my garage (It's tiled) and that helped me learn what to look for. You could do the same thing with a 2x4 just to get used to it.
That seems *** backwards to me. Going from R to 1 would be conducive to pulling out of a parking spot not pulling into one
The R to 1 thing works out for me all the time. When heading into a parking space I just don't try to be that accurate nor straight the first time I pull in. I then reverse it for a little bit to straighten it out then going forward the front camera comes on.
As has been stated, for parallel parking it just works.
Finally, if I am pulling in straight the first time or say pulling into a garage, I've already moved the camera icon to the main page so I'll use that. For me it's a two step process as I have to first hit the home button to get out of Android Auto, then tap the camera.
It only comes on automatically when going from R to 1. I do use it almost everytime I pull into a parking spot or when pulling into my garage. I just hit the little video icon when going under 5 and it turns it on, but it has to be done manually.

Just a suggestion...

How does this connect? Where would I find one? Thanks.
