Had to chime in on this. I have had this happen to me as well. It is amazing to me that people resent or chastise others who work hard and have goals for themselves. I have told many people that I don't owe anybody an apology for working hard and purchasing a car that I adored as a teenager. Enjoy the car and ignore the self-righteous lefties!

She's ranting about how went in debt to I bought a car I cannot afford (but she doesn't know that I paid cash for it) - while she just bought a brand-new 2017 Hyundai (and has a $400 monthly car payment that I do not). She keeps saying that I drive it everywhere to "show it off" - yet it has only 500 miles on it since February 1st when I bought it - and it is pretty much a "sunny weekends only" car for me.
Guess who posted 20 photos of her car all over Facebook? She did. Guess who did NOT? Me! Only one person at work knows I got my C7, along with my son, some of his friends who saw it and a few of my other friends. Not even my relatives (aside from my brother) know that I purchased this car.
I have found that there are those who are simply jealous (understandably) - but there are still others who have an insatiable desire to control others or constantly tell everyone else what they "should" or "should not" do. The most dangerous folks are those who seek to use the power of the state to force their warped views on others.
We'll generally park out a ways as well. Not because we're trying to be "special" but because every vehicle we own has large doors for the entry of our large persons. If I owned a smartcar I'd probably be jockeying right up by the HC slots but since I'm 6'3" and in a 'Vette I park out a ways.
Kind of funny, though. My son's friend showed him a picture of "some A****le's" park job in a ZR1 and it turned out to be me!

YO-EL, I can understand your frustration. If your car is the white Z51, at least the fellow Vette owner was very respectful by parking far over in his space to give you plenty of room to get back into your vehicle. He was probably proud and happy to run into a fellow Vette owner, and thought you might appreciate the company.
Yea bro, my post was clearly made in jest!
I was cool seeing the Z06 parked next to me, and he did allot much needed space for full door opening, so all good! Once we saw that, we got a good kick out of it!
Thank you very much for posting the most ridiculous thing I'll probably read today. Have a wonderful day.
I don't think it's all that rediculous. Who in this country is anti success and wealth? Or what they perceive as symbols of it? No matter your political affiliation (I am independent), you can't deny reality.
I guess your filter is different than mine. I've had that same thing happen to me in the past and I told them "well I really don't ******* remember asking you". Then I just go on my merry way.
That is so wrong.
The left lost and continues to show their un-American behavior.

Sounds to me like the explanation of a bitter old person makes more sense, and I think the other side won that demographic quite handily.

Hijack over. Sorry about that.

I think the reason people react to folks the way the lady did to the OP is because they subscribe to the myth that Corvette owners are arrogant jerks. Your foolish comments only serve to perpetuate the myth.

By the way, my Torch Red C7 is a Republican car, it veers right even after an alignment. I may not like it, but you buy a friggin red Corvette, what can you expect?

Should anyone here would give a flying fark what anyone else thinks strikes me as a cause for concern about what is wrong with themselves. You can't control what other people do. Don't let it bother you dude, you have the coolest car, that's compensation enough. People can be idiots, I would hope this is something you have gotten used to by now.
Carry on and obey all local traffic laws like the rest of us.

First off, Jen-I'm really sorry that people do that and treat you like you're "special" just because you own a Corvette...it's a pretty sad that others form opinions about people that they don't even know.
Brother, I applaud you for your positive comeback. I'm sure that made them think twice!
See, everyone has choices in life. You can choose to respond in a positive or negative manner. If you do this ^^^^, you simply add to the pre-concieved notion that Corvette drivers are ******** and snobs. I try my best to change the mind of a person like this.
Me...I always try to diffuse this notion. If someone said "I'm special" because I drive a Corvette, I would simply and politely say, "Honestly, I work 3 jobs, I saved my money for this car, my house is paid off, I put my daughter thru college and paid for it, I have zero debt and this car is truly a joy to drive."
This week, a couple pulled up next to me and the woman (who was driving-not the man sitting in the passenger's seat) said, "Great looking Corvette!" I rolled down my window the rest of the way and said thank you-I appreciate her kind comments.
If I can change someone's mind about us Corvette people, it puts a smile on my face.
Why on earth do you feel compelled to tell a complete stranger about your life history and financial situation? **** 'em...ain't none of their business
My response to nosy, miserable ***** like this.... "jealousy is a horrible trait"
On a couple of occasions, I've just laughed and said "I'm saving the more convenient spaces for people who need them."
Lol, I always say I'm young and can walk.
I typically park my Focus out in the middle of no where too. Mostly because people are careless or don't watch their kids when they open doors.

So I did park over one of the lines to ensure some jerk didn't park so close I couldn't get my door open enough to get back in. When I came out, there was about a 10 pound rock sitting right in the middle of my hood. Of course it was dark so I didn't notice it until I was in my car - back out I go to carefully remove it and check for damage.
Fortunately, someone just sat it there rather than slamming it down. I understand people getting mad for someone parking like a jerk but come on...
That's just rude of them.

That, and the fact that you're young, fit, attractive, and driving an attention grabbing car, could have been just too much for the old bat to deal with in one dose. She spewed her envy, and hopefully regrets it.
