I have a former neighbor (the vegan, self-righteous type of leftist whose hypocrisy knows no boundaries) who exemplifies that type of person. She believes in different rules for her than for "the masses" (i.e., everyone else).
She's ranting about how went in debt to I bought a car I cannot afford (but she doesn't know that I paid cash for it) - while she just bought a brand-new 2017 Hyundai (and has a $400 monthly car payment that I do not). She keeps saying that I drive it everywhere to "show it off" - yet it has only 500 miles on it since February 1st when I bought it - and it is pretty much a "sunny weekends only" car for me.
Guess who posted 20 photos of her car all over Facebook? She did. Guess who did NOT? Me! Only one person at work knows I got my C7, along with my son, some of his friends who saw it and a few of my other friends. Not even my relatives (aside from my brother) know that I purchased this car.
I have found that there are those who are simply jealous (understandably) - but there are still others who have an insatiable desire to control others or constantly tell everyone else what they "should" or "should not" do. The most dangerous folks are those who seek to use the power of the state to force their warped views on others.
Not to get political but that is exactly why I so dislike all those Liberal asses. I would never say anything about what type of car a lerson drives.
Life is short so enjoy it your family and your Corvette!
People are just got chips on there shoulders. I park my vette faraway and there is no one to be seen around the car and usually when I return there is someone that just wants to park next to me far on the other side of the parking lot. I know they just want to park next to my vette right... LOL

You just did. Asses span the entire gamut of the political spectrum, and there are plenty of them representing every political philosophy.
How politics got injected into a discussion about a grumpy old lady who made a catty remark to a young woman driving a Corvette is mind boggling.
Now that I found out you are a lady, I can conclude that the motive for the rant was pure jealousy. I bet your are good looking and on that day you where dressed to kill. Further the woman who made the comment was, let's just say, below par in her physical attributes. Good looks, nice car, dressed to kill --- sometimes that's just too much for another women to handle. Bang, out comes the envy and jealousy.
I like what you said. My 91 is torch red. My politics are conservative, but it doesn't matter, because owning a Corvette is a special and envious thing. It is the quintessential American sports car. The very presence of a Corvette screams freedom, liberty and independence. That's why I fell in love with the car as a kid and love that I finally own one.

By the way, my Torch Red C7 is a Republican car, it veers right even after an alignment. I may not like it, but you buy a friggin red Corvette, what can you expect?

Reason: I wanted to remove a political comment
On most things, I am far right of center (a conservative-libertarian hybrid of sorts), but I definitely understand that owning or liking Corvettes transcends such boundaries.
Joe Biden, certainly no right-winger, owns a beautiful 1967 'Vette and my stepfather, whose heart bleeds so badly that he needs an IV to vote, is a Porsche owner who almost bought a Z06 a few years back.
Likewise, some if my far-right friends dislike Corvettes while only liking 4x4 trucks and SUVs.

This thread is rapidly confirming my worst fears about the Corvette owner stereotype. It's embarrassing.
What are you talking about, I drive a Corvette with my foot to the floor, pealing out, at every start, revving my engine next to people at the stop lights, trying to race every VW I see, parallel parking across the front four parking spaces at the library, and I had my stereo upgraded to 1,000,000,000 watts so I can blast it with my windows down so as to attract as much attention to myself as possible.
I am on my way now to have 16 60" tail pipes with fart cans installed.

The thing that make me mad is when someone parks over the line into my space.
I actually park in the same space at Walmart and other stores I frequent, no matter which car I am driving, probably because my wife parked closer in one time, and someone backed in and put a trailer hitch through the grille. What is worse is that they left a FAKE phone number on the windshield for the people passing by. sad.
Of course, you can be a jerk no matter where your park.. like this (Jeep driver out jerks the Corvette jerk)
Actually, I kind of think the Jeep drive has a sense of humor. Shame on the C6 driver for parking that way.

Skinny jeans, black high boots, fitted black shirt, in good shape, lots of long hair, younger by twenty five plus years...I don't fit the rural PA appearance. I am NYC in PA. I've gotten comments since we got a house here. I haven't gotten outward rude comments about the car though.
Could we please leave the all the political stuff (left or right) outside of this Forum. Most of us come here for the love of our Corvettes not for political dialog or political jabs.
As for parking spaces I would bite my tongue and use what someone else here advised, I park out here to leave the closer spaces to those to need it.

Well you just got political and guess what? Its not appreciated. Go to the site the forum set up for those who like to spew their misguided comments to their kind.
