I personally love the black z51 wheels. My car looked exactly like yours when I bought it but I swapped the wheels and think it looks great. I also just added a z06 grill, spllitter and changed the badges to carbon flash to complete the LBR on black look.
I love it as it is. BUT if you want to try black, use plastic spray. Spray it on, pull it off easily if you don't like it. Then you can have it both ways before you buy different wheels.
Excellent idea. I tend to think that black wheels pretty much disappear, so there is no point in changing wheels to get black. Just a rattle can will get you there--but the plastic spray has the advantage of not being permanent.
I feel like with chrome it draws your eyes to the shiny wheels and not the rest of the car. I agree black tends to blend in with the car but that is ultimately what I like. I don't want my wheels to be the center of attention.
Just me. Never been a chrome guy, but I do get the history of chrome on the Corvette. There is a legacy there for sure.
Long Beach Red is a great looking color !!! Congrats on getting your nightmare squared away.
Although I have black wheels ( a first for me) I am NOT a fan of them on dark color cars. With LBR I would have chrome ones, or keep the ones you have.
My LBR came with the same ones you have and I also have a set of the R86 on the car at the moment. I prefer the painted or polished over black for the darker colors and I don't care for chrome. Did that many years ago and once was enough.
On a dark car I think one should create contrast otherwise the black wheels get lost. Chrome or machined looks better on a dark color in my personal opinion. That said, go with what stirs positive emotions with you when you look at them.

So just picked up my replacement Vette after going through a nightmare with my first one. I must say I'm much happier with the long beach red metallic than the black rose metallic.
I'm looking for opinions on whether or not to do black wheels. Please chime in with your opinions!
I am not a big fan of black wheels, especially on a dark colored car. I think your car looks great just the way it is now-the shiny wheels provide a nice contrast to the body color and really bring the color out!! If it were mine, I would keep it as is.

I'm probably in the minority these days on the forum in that I like chrome, but in general, I think black wheels don't look that good on a dark colored car (except the "black-wheels-on- a-black-car" look is definitely growing on me) because the wheel color is an opportunity to create some contrast between them and the body color. I like your car just the way it is with the silver painted wheels...not too flashy (like chrome might seem), but still a contrast to separate the wheels/tires from the body.
I have black wheels on my SG and love them with black badges, plenty of contrast. But on your car, dark color with silver badges, silver looks better, or machine faced, or aftermarket polished aluminum.
