Well, it was bound to happen. Got my first speeding ticket. Going 50 in a 30 zone. The bad part is not getting the ticket, the bad part is that I wasn't even realizing I was going 50. This things just gets to speed so fast that I just didn't realize I was speeding along...
Ouch, here in VA, that would be an expensive one, plus the points, which would hurt insurance rates! One of those that might be worth going to court, respectfully pleading guilty, but telling the judge that you just let the car get away from you, you're sorry, learned your lesson, etc. You might get away with no points and a greatly reduced fine.
I keep thinking that I'm due to get one because of the vehicle. But it's likely to be in a speed limit zone of 45 or higher. Anything below that, I'm pretty "law-abiding".

Got to pay more attention now...
Ask for deferred adjudication, if you have it in your state ...you would still have to pay the ticket, court cost, take drivers education etc. BUT if you didn't receive another speeding ticket say for 90 days ( for example) the ticket would be dismissed and not show up as guilty on driving record.

I got my first one in my vette driving home to California from the museum after picking it up. 88 in an 80 zone in Wyoming. The absolute middle of nowhere. The patrolman that pulled me over had a really hard time reconciling how I bought a car from a Maryland dealer with Maryland tags, picked it up in Kentucky and was driving it home to California. Oh well, paid it and alls well. It was a really lame ticket though.
I got tagged a couple years back 46 in a 35 construction zone. Double fine - 320 bucks and double points - 4. Never saw a construction barrel or sign and the normal speed limit for that section of road was 45. After I got my ticket, I turned the car around and took a ride back - sure enough was a 35 Mph construction zone sign. Sometimes it JUST ain't your day!!
Yeah, luckily, in Texas, you are allowed several ways to dismiss the ticket. You can request to take a defensive driving course our deferred adjudication. Either one of those will have the ticket dismissed and off the records. I will request for defensive driving to dismiss this ticket and the defensive driving can also be used to lower the insurance rate as well at the same time.

Not likely. I was rear ended in VA a few months ago. I was summoned to court and had to sit there for hours waiting to testify. There were many many 20mph over the limit that should have been reckless driving. The judge knocked them down to a lower speed or let them off completely. The fool that I was there for rammed the person behind me and pushed them into me. This guy almost rammed me 10 times in heavy traffic before things opened up and this lady moved between us. He was clearly insane or arguing on hands free as I watched him for miles. He got it knocked down from reckless and got a 150 fine. The judge said he was guilty of reckless but his culpability was low. VA is apparently not that strict after all.
Sorry to hear that. Maybe consider a good radar detector? They are pretty amazing at rooting out those pseky kinds of microwaves and laser beams drivers hate. On the Interstates WAZE is a must. Terrible how speed limits have turned into such revenue generating systems. Speed limits about the same as the 1960's sans the nylon bias ply tires.

I feel your pain with their State Troopers....A trooper held me for 2 hours on the side of the road. I was respectful but held my ground that I wasn't even speeding. I guess we became friends while his people ran my life history. Gave me a warning (said he had to write something for holding me) on the shoulder for 2 hours. NO I WAS"T SPEEDING.

I NEVER SPEED!!...but when I get caught..it's driving school class with a parking ticket reduction...what sucks is there are usually about 150 others waiting in line at the court house to see ADA..and then the judge ...takes at least a couple of hours just to do that..on a good day!
That sucks! I have been relatively lucky with the C7. The closest I got a ticket was when I zipped by a state trooper on the highway that was probably preoccupied with something because he just let me go on my merry way. LoL!
Be very aware because this car will definitely bite you if you're not paying attention to the speedo when not in cruise.
I remember when the driving classes first started going online. I used to simply open two browser windows (there weren't tabs back then) and would answer the questions in one browser window while referencing the "story" in the other one.
Then they attempted to get fancier and started asking questions that had nothing to do with driving. By that I mean the story would say something like "You must not park within <x> feet of a fire hydrant. The author of this article drives a green car..." and the question would be What color car does the author drive? Didn't really change my procedure that much but I counted and over 60% of the questions were about things like this. I guess teaching people the law is not the real point anymore!
Then one day I was driving through Montana and got pulled over for like 82 in a 70. I actually said to the cop "But there's nobody else how here!". Upon return home I called up the local courthouse and was told the fine would be $40-! I said, "Why didn't you tell me! I could have afforded to go much faster!".
Last week a pick up would not let me around him and he stayed in the left lane parallel to a car In the right. I figured fine what a dick. After a while my radar kicked in and trooper pulled out behind me. We were doing about 70 in a 65. So as soon as I pulled into the right lane he followed me for for miles and the pick up took off. Anyways I got off the hiway and figured let me to talk to this guy I am getting annoyed so I pulled over and he said slow it down. I asked him how fast did the radar say, he said he got a call from a sheriff saying you were doing over 100. Then it clicked , it was the dick in the pickup probably off duty. Anyways, of course no ticket since I wasn't really speading. But keeping up with the pick up. But I am still lucky I did manage to hit 135mph numerous times and 154 tops. Of course that is with no cars on the hiway and a straightaway with 100% visibility. But as soon as I hit those top speeds I just lay off the gas and slow down to normal speed and say wow that's felt good. Lol

Speeding is not good. However I would like to remind anyone who is or was former military to let the officer be aware of it if possible. I know someone who was pulled over last week on St. Patricks day doing 20 over the limit and when asked for his license he respectively pulled out his license and military ID, the officer said yes he was former military also and not even a warning was issued.
Yes he was lucky, This probably will not work all the time but it can't hurt. Good Luck and try not to speed.
