well that proves its not the s6 as the culprit, ill see if if i can find original cable.
here is a tip when you plugs it in you will see the squigilly tree logo
indicating it is hooked up to usb press on it and it will ask charge or exchange files. You must tell the phone to exchange files every time that will allow it to work with AA at least that was my initial problem. By the way android auto is terrible. It limits how many time you can browse spotify while moving and despite the promises there is no waze yet

That's pretty funky. I have to do that when connecting to a PC but not the car. Must be a weird thing with the Samsung. I use Google play and it works great. I don't browse, I just "OK Google" and tell it what to play. Browsing kind of defeats the purpose of not being distracted. Google maps works for me. I love it...and in general I hate Android and almost all Google products.

Where exactly are you seeing this?

Correction, you should be asked only the first time, after that you won't be prompted again. However, occasional (I suspect due to a bug) it will ask for permission to access data on your phone. At least this is with an S7 running Nougat.

Actually AA is working as designed - you just don't like that it is. You should not be browsing anything when you are driving. That's the whole point of AA.
And Waze is coming as now AA allows you to select an alternate mapping application. It's just that only Google Maps is currently offered. IOW we're waiting for an update on the Waze app itself.
by every time I meant you must set it for charging and exchange sorry for the confusion
waze has been coming for over a year it is always just around the corner. Their limitations are ridiculous and defeat the purpose of utility. part of it is the infotainment system is resistant to swiping. but if you want to brows your playlist or your passenger it should limit you. I think for version 2 it has possibilities but is not there yet. If you like it great I don't

That's what I'm thinking too. I still using my 2 year-old Galaxy S6. I'm wondering if a newer phone would be more likely to connect. In my other thread, I've asked to find out what phone guys are using that is working with the Infotainment System.
I doubt if the phone hardware is an issue as long as you're running a current version of the Android OS. I have an S4 that's >3-YO and two generations earlier than yours, running Android v5.0.1, and it works with AA. Haven't used AA much but it's worked the few times I have.
Have you tried resetting the phone and starting fresh?
This is the easiest, and cheapest thing to try first. Pull the battery out for approx. 20 seconds also. That little process has saved me quite a few headaches. I don't know what it does, but it does the trick most of the time. Good luck.
We have S6s and have no problem UNLESS: if we don't turn bluetooth off on the phone prior to starting the car, the phone hooks to the car bluetooth and AA will not start. We have to turn bluetooth off on our phones first, and it works that way on 3 different cars we have that have AA. Hope that helps. It was quite frustrating until we figured that out. Now it works every time no problem.

Why swipe? You can do everything by voice. You don't even need to hit a button first.

That's kind of annoying, because it kills all of the bluetooth messaging ,call, music features.
Because I do not think that that has a data connection to the car. I'm not sure that the USB outlet in the secret compartment has a data connection or not.
AA works on my 2016 from both the console USB ports and the "hidden" compartment USB ports. FWIW....

It's not the S6 or the lack of Nougat.
Mine (S6 Edge) had similar issues and it was the cable. The stock cable that came with the phone didn't work either - I just kept trying USB cables until I found one that actually worked. Some things like battery cases can also interfere.
So keep trying different cables until you find one that consistently works. Even my old Oneplus One works with AA in the Vette.
Also, you don't need to turn off Bluetooth. I get in the car with the Bluetooth turned on (it's on all the time because I use an Android smartwatch and my Microsoft Band 2), turn the car on, then hook up the phone to the cable that goes into one of the USB ports in the armrest area. That's it, give it a few seconds and the projection sign turns to AA.

When you start AA you're at the main screen. Cards are presented like a weather card and whatever Google Maps searches you did. At this point you're poking the display anyway. So you swipe away the weather card to reveal more destination cards.
BTW there is no voice command to say "OK I saw the weather card. Please get rid of it", for example.

Actually no, the "music" (better called media as it may be podcasts, audio books etc.) goes through the USB connection and not Bluetooth.
It's strange that he needs to turn off Bluetooth. I don't need to. Bluetooth is uses for the "phone" profile but not the "media" profile. "media" goes through the USB.
I wonder, once connected to AA, can you turn on the Bluetooth?
