Default Remove or not?

I had a C5 bottom feeder for 12 years and know the lower air dam was critical to engine cooling. The lower air dam on the C5 had a spring-hinge setup, so it always popped back to position after I came off my drive way ramp (hear that scraping noise?). I now own a C7, Z51 and want to remove the center and side dams as they are already toast after 4 months of owning the car. I realize the dam is there to reduce underbody air turbulence but is it really necessary for anything other than that? Thanks and cheers!

Remove it and happy driving. The Z51 does not have the center and the two sides are just there if you need to cruise in double digits and wants a tad of help in gas mileage. I took my sides off first thing. When I put the splitter on, it was a moot point for the sides as they almost disappear under the splitter.

Take them off and be happy.

It aids aerodynamics, if that is not important to you, by all means remove it.

I took them off but the front end looked jacked up from a distance but that disappeared after I installed a splitter.

Thanks for the input. The dams are history. I already ordered a CF splitter so when that goes on the dams come off. I'll also be installing a Curb Alert as well. I've seen too many splitters eat it on parking stops and curbs. Thanks again...

Curb alert is high maintenance for keeping it calibrated. Might I recommend a different device for keeping the splitter in prime condition?

Thanks Elmer. I was on the fence with the Curb Alert vs a camera. You just nudged me to the camera side. I ordered one through my auto audio guy this morning who will also do the install. So, I'll actually see the curb/parking stop as I approach. It's more $$$ but I think I'll be much happier in the long run. My audio guy said he's done a lot of these installs on high end exotics with low profile front ends. Thanks again
