I think they're on everything except the level 1 cars (1LT, 1LZ) for 2017. Not sure, especially about previous years.

Anyone else? Did the motion sensors come on the previous model years?

I have a 2014 3LT A6. I locked the car with the windows open. I reached in and opened the glove box. No alarms, so apparently the motion sensors are not activated with the windows down and the glove box opened.

Did you wait for the solid red lamp on the dash to start blinking?

I have a 2014 3LT A6. I locked the car with the RKE and the windows are open. I reached in and opened the glove box. It alarms. Actually, I just reached in and it alarmed.

Thank you Elmer. I did not wait for the light the first time.

Mine also alarmed and the glove box was locked with the windows down and top on.

Even with the M7 in reverse, you can open the screen hideaway after a given amount of time. Not sure how long it is, bit it will open after sitting a while.

Next to the hatch release is a button that allows you to disable the motion sensor.

That should both tell you if you have one, and give you the ability to check to see if you've inadvertently disabled it.

It looks like it is for wifi. If you toggle it on and off, you'll get a beep and the screen will tell you motion sensor disabled.

[QUOTE=eboggs_jkvl;1594897512]Mostly true but you can put a plug into the driver's side hole at the top of the windshield and all the alarms will set including intrusion. Sadly, the convertible can't be armed in this manner and while I can turn on the door alarm, intrusion stays off with the top down.

I tried to do this with no luck. I even tried holding a flat head screw driver against the pin then locked the car. Is there an amount of time it takes for the motion sensors to activate? Do you have a pic of the cap you used? Thank you

When everything is closed (or thinks it's closed) the alarm takes about 30 seconds to set. Look at the red light on the dash. When it starts to blink slow, the alarm is active.
