Congrats on your purchase of the Hellcat, sorry to see you leave the Corvette family but with a family you had to make the choice that works.
Good Luck and safe driving.
I did highly consider the Zl1. If I wasn't planning on using the car with a car seat for my son than I probably would have bought it. In the end for car seat use and practicality the hellcat suited my needs best. Also buying the car used help cushion the blow of the original sticker cost of 72k and the dash lol.
Four-door sedan is basically a minimum requirement if it's your only vehicle and you have a wife & kid(s).
I think my 2015 Grand Cherokee has the same infotainment center your Hellcat has. Our (now sold) 2016 C7 and my 2017 2500 LTZ Duramax truck both share a similar infotainment center (bluetooth, nav, etc) to each other. But I agree with you. The Chrysler/Jeep/Dodge/etc., uconnect set up is better. I especially like the Jeep's "Travelink" where with the push of a button it displays all the gas stations that have diesel (mine's diesel) along with prices in order of distance and direction. One more tap of the screen on any one of the gas stations listed and it automatically goes to nav and tells me how to get there.

Individual anecdotes are single data-points, but here's my data-point counterpart to yours.
I've owned 8 Chrysler products since 2004. I still own an '04 Dodge Dakota w/ 150K miles, and a '15 Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk. Not one of them has either left me stranded or had any major mechanical issue.
I've had many Chrysler products over the years, totally agree with you. Yet my first Vette ended being returned because they couldn't "fix" it last summer. Replacement is fine. Every manufacturer has issues from time to time.
I believe the new winner for that title is the new DEMON with 800+ HP

Yeah, originally the Hellcat was only a Challenger, and when they added the Charger version, I think they decided to rebrand the Challenger as Demon, adding more power to differentiate the two.

Yes and no.... I wouldn't call it a rebrand. If they are really only going to make 3000 demons it's more of a special edition vehicle than anything else. They will continue making hellcats in both the Charger and Challenger variants.
Agreed, not a useful or family oriented back seat for sure. Not to mention poor visibility for everyday use.
It's nice to see a "real world" comparison. I have several muscle/sports cars including a recent 'Vette, and my limited experience suggests there are "Corvette Guys" and the rest of us "car guys". No one wants to hear about your "other" car at the shows. I appreciate your feedback and absolutely love the HellCat as well. Great choice!
Pretty much nailed it with that statement. You even see this phenomenon when talking about a vette of a different generation. Case in point, a lot of hate for the C7 coming from the C6 forum. I mean dam, its the same car just an evolutionary step forward. The corvette is my favorite sports car for its price looks and all around performance, but there ARE other great cars out there...
I'm a car guy. I have no brand loyalty. The C7 is just damn sexy (no knock on the previous gen. cars, subjectivity and all...), it's relatively affordable both to acquire and to maintain (including gas), and its comfortable to commute in. I bought my previous car based on looks too; great car. I have become more of a 'Vette "fanboy" since I got my baby 10 months ago.
The OP made a great choice, I wish him the best. A rocketship family car!
Buy what you want, and share comparisons. It's nice to have a civil discussion of other cars, mainly because it allows a good cross comparison of pros/cons that can hopefully be used to improve our homegrown super-sport coupe.
Check for a thread on this. If I remember correctly sometimes this is door skin rubbing against the metal bar that provides side impact protection, cure is aerosol foam between the two to stop movement. Someone else may have the link.
Good luck. Maybe this is your case as well.
Man thanks for the info!! I've searched and searched this forum but haven't found the thread dealing with the door squeak. Most seem to be the roof or the seat belt rattle. Thanks again!
I'm glad you like it.......thats all that matters. IMO you forgot something.
#1 Appearance - The exterior look of the c7 is FAR above the chunky look of that dodge....jmo of course. Here in Dallas I can honestly say in one day I will typically see 4-5 mustangs- 6-10 camaros and 6-10 dodges. (often driven by young girls) I will usually see one c7......every gas fillup someone wants to talk or take a pic after over almost 2 years driving - people just walk by the charger - so while not performance related it adds to overall enjoyment of car.

You are correct! The Corvette is hands down a much better looking car. However what you probably don't see every day is a charger hellcat and if you do it's definitely not being driven by a young girl a Corvette is a Corvette and will always be distingwishable from the rest of Chevy's line up. Of course the charger and Challenger are less distingwishable from their lesser counterparts but that's kind of what makes the car awseome. It really is a sleeper unless you see those hellcat badges on the fenders or or the three vents on the raised hood. Honestly though what has surprised me is the amount of attention the car is actually receiving. Everyone is asking me about it every morning at the local D&D. Either way it is a great car that I am so far thoroughly enjoying. (won't be needing the cargo mat anymore)
I've done some research and couple of dealers, didn't ask to drive one yet. Bottom line my wife just isn't on board with this. She loves the Z51, doesn't understand my lust for 707hp! She just can't get over trading the Vette for a Dodge, lol. I'll just back off for a while. I like the look and hp, but also at my age the extra room and ease of getting in and out is nice in the Challenger. Oh well enjoy your car!

I've always appreciated the Vette, but it was the C7 that really started getting my attention. After consideration, I decided I wouldn't be happy with only one "toy", kept a couple and recently added a C6.
I feel we are in a "sweet spot" era for performance cars and choices. The aging "boomer's" will be moving on to more comfortable cars and I'm not sure the Millennial's value performance as we do. I'm all about enjoying as much of it as I can!

I don't think you get it. Half of millennials could give a flying fark about even owning a car at all. Cars are losing their iconic status/role in American culture and are increasingly viewed as appliances (which is essentially what they ARE after all) that serve a function. We are rapidly heading towards a future with self-driving cars, and once that technology really takes hold (and it may well take another 20 years, but it could happen sooner) then you have a scenario where car ownership becomes more optional and flexible.
Moreover, it's arguable that for the good of society, speeding laws should be automatically enforced via GPS, the technology exists now. If that ever happens, kiss the sports car good-bye. Hopefully that happens after I'm in that Big Corvette Showroom in the Sky. I love my Corvette and I love enthusiast driving. Though I must state for the record that I fully support speed limits on public roads and cannot support the other hooligans here who regularly violate them with their overpowered vehicles.
Do any of you really want to live in a world like that? See? An UPSIDE to your mortality. Have a nice day.
