I'm probably in the minority here but I hate the WOT 1-2 shift backfire. It makes the vette sound like a farmtruck needing a tune.
I guess I'm lucky as I also get it on 2-3 also
I live rural on mountains back roads with very few LEGAL passing zones. Some LEGAL zones are over 5 miles apart!
Get some road hog clown ahead of you and you got to pass you want to do it fast and get back on your side of the road. Put it to the floor and if your lucky you get the "backfire" right next to the slowpoke driver, it most certainly wakes them up!
have never heard a pop or backfire on my car or any car when accelerating, i would be very nervous about that, unless it is just loading up from tooling around and then when you decide to hit it a month later, may be possible. have never heard it from my car on regular ****, granny **** or no lift shifting. interesting.

When you should get nervous is after you hear the third pop. You'll be in 4th gear at that point. Guess how fast you'll be going? 115!
When you hit 3rd you're only going about 93. Of course I've never done this, but it is in the manual.

You beat me to it. I have grown to love the "backfire" and also time my shift as I am next to the driver door. And if I am really lucky, it's a Prius that I am passing.
I just got a 2017 GS a couple of weeks ago and noticed the pops under hard acceleration. I was worried it wasn't normal. I do drive in sport mode most of the time.
since I dropped the Borla in my GS... still get the brap on heavy accel but when I let up on throttle to coast up to a light it's like the forth of July with multiple rumbles of back pressure .. that alone is worth the price of admission ..
