I received an email from range today and they say 8.3 will be ready in a week or two max. I am going to buy this version even if they still have the CEL problems. I will use a on off switch or something else. I just hate that V8 to V4 stuff.
Just received today, if I'm reading the handwriting correctly it says ver 8.385 or 8.335, not too sure. It's dated 8/28 though.
Will try to put some miles on it this week.
Keep us updated my friend. I received my Range last week, and it's the 8.2 version. Hopefully the 8.3 will take care of the CEL's in the '16's+. My unit is on a switch that I will continue to use though. Easier to take off line when the car is in bed for awhile.
I have not got anything from them yet. Does everyone that bought one get an update? I bought mine direct from Range
What I received is a beta, they only send a few of those out (not sure how many) to see if it is addressing the issues they are trying to fix.
Once they officially release an update, any existing user can send in their current unit to get it re-flashed to the latest version. They have information on that process here: https://rangetechnology.com/free-upgrade-instructions/
My suggestion is to hold tight and wait for some positive news that they have the problem out and have released that update before you get it reflashed.
On their site in their support section it explains how to tell what version you do have, if you no longer have the box. The lights flash on startup to tell you the version number.
I'll get some driving in this weekend and should be able to report back next week. All the ones I've had previously have thrown CELs on my car pretty quickly.

and by quickly you mean plugging it in, and starting the car
Looking forward to the update. Keeping my fingers crossed.
When you have a chance, could you also ask Range again how/if Chevy/GM could detect that a car has had the device plugged in? (Just following up on the hearsay claim in another thread)
Caitlin from Range advised me yesterday that the latest update is now available so I shipped my unit yesterday to have it flashed. I only get a CEL if I forget to turn my unit off and then start the car with it turned ON. I need to remember to turn it off both to keep the battery from being discharged and to prevent CELs. Otherwise it works like a charm and does keep the car from going into V4 mode.

what did she say the "latest version" # is? because if you're getting 8.2 it's a waste, when there's a beta with 8.35 is being tested.
Regarding the CELs, yes, that's normal for it, most are waiting to see if this new beta fixes the CEL issue when you don't turn it on/off.

After two years using the Range I never got a CEL nor had the car ever went into Limp Mode after leaving unit plugged in then starting the car until this past week. So I assume it's not a predictable event, getting a CEL?

Had the range in 2017 now for 8000 miles. Most of the time i turn off when parking the car and turn on prior to starting. I have had the car go into limp mode four times and as others have said very unpredictable when it will happen. Four minor quick solve problems in 8000 miles very acceptable compared to having torque converter problems.
