interesting while replacing the roof? Will try removing the roof with the alarm armed, doors closed and locked windows open. Annoying how much time I am spending on this!

Because the interior sensor is disabled until the roof is in place.

On our 2017 2LT, the car had been parked for about ten minutes with top on and windows down. Wife reached in the open window to retrieve something she had left on the seat. Alarm went off and she darned near wet her pants.

My wife stayed in the car (windows down, engine off) while I ran into a convenience store and same thing happened right as I was walking back to the car. Suffice to say she does't understand my hilarity when she jumps like that

2014. Walked to garage, got in, placed it in acc, put windows down, got out, closed door. I waited for it to autolock and the alarm to start a slow flash. Waved my hand inside and the alarm went off.

So, 2014 and 2017 do it with the windows open. Sounds like the owner's manual has an error. Who'da thunk that?

I read that portion of the OM as a precaution/preperation, not a necessity.

"Before arming the theft-deterrent system and activating the intrusion
sensor:
. .
.
Make sure all doors and windows are completely closed.
Secure any loose items such as sunshades.
Make sure there are no obstructions blocking the sensors."

But as I said up-thread, the default is on (armed) (when the doors are locked), so again the OM has vague and muddy info.

But yesterday with alarm set tried jacking rear end up and alarm went off?

Hate to think it but may have to take to dealer?!

Given all the ways you have already tested it, the only thing I can think of (before you go to the dealer) is to set your car to auto lock.

Just tested my 16. Left the window down, came inside and put the fob away. When back out, stuck a hand in and flailed around. Went off after about a 5 second delay...

You could still get it to alarm even if the FOB was in your pocket. I had my FOB in my pocket. The alarm is set unless you unlock the car. It doesn't care if the FOB is in the house or in your pocket.

Interesting. I assumed (we all know where that gets you) that if it was in my pocket, it would unlock the door and not allow it to go off. Good to know, thanks...

The fob won't unlock the door just because you are in proximity of the car. You must either press the door pad on the car or unlock button on the fob.

It will do that even if the fob is in your pocket. When I am at the track I have to remember to open the door if I want to get my helmet off the seat. If I reach in through the window the horn starts blaring and I have to scramble to get the fob out of my pocket. The guys parked next to me at the NCM VIR event this year had a lot of fun with me as I kept setting the damned thing off.

It is too sensitive.

***UPDATE

Found problem!

Removed roof and was fooling with pin-switch on driver side where roof panel drops in, noticed after putting a plastic wall anchor in hole that roof panel drops into that the alarm went off with me just putting one hand in thru window. This is great I thought until I put roof back on and noticed it didn't work again, removed roof once again put in plastic anchor and alarm worked fine!

Any suggestions on quick fix?! Hate going to dealer!! Also time very limited for next few weeks!

A little annoyed too finding little things like this wrong with a Corvette!

Any way thanks for all suggestions and help and yes alarm will go off once set even if remote is sitting on driver seat! Will not go off with roof removed or in my case wont go off even with roof installed!

Thanks again and if anyone has way to resolve this issue with out taking to dealer I would much appreciate your response!

Don't say "wall anchor" to the dealer. Your's might have been too big and boogered up the switch.

FIXED!!

No need to go to dealer, put small bit of shrink wrap around roof peg, dropped roof in, let alarm auto arm with windows down, reached in alarm went off!!!

tried it several times and all good!! removed roof once again and alarm didn't go off, all seems to be working as should!

Thanks all!!

If I were you I would still get the dealer to take care of it. Either the sensor is marginally out of adjustment (if its mounting is adjustable) or it is defective. Your shrink wrap treatment is sufficient for now but since it is clearly operating on the margin once the temperature drops and materials contract you may find that once again the alarm system thinks the roof is not in place.

I know this an old thread but the 2019 GS is new to me!

So I found out that the motion sensor on my 3LT only works when is the top is on, if I take the top off there is a small pin that is dis-engaged and will not allow the motion sensor to do its job. I like to leave my top down in some places and would like to use the motion sensors, so is their an aftermarket piece I can buy to help me with this?
