Default Help with motion sensor PLEASE!

Ive read the different threads regarding the motion sensor but am not able to get it to work! Hope someone can help, car is a 2018 2LT, have motion sensor button inside next to hatch/trunk release button, have turned it off then on again and see display in dash saying motion sensor on. with the car locked with remote tried jacking car up from rear and as soon as I began to lift rear alarm went off, great that works! What I am not able to check is the motion sensor inside vehicle. I have left driver window down, locked doors with remote, walked away from car for 30+ secs and left remote 50+ ft from vehicle. Walked back to car and reached in to open center console and nothing! waved arm arounf near rear view mirror still nothing! Am I missing something? Top was on and latched, doors were locked. Please help me figure this out?

THANK YOU ALL!!!

Try this -- start the car, put the windows down. Shut car off and walk away 20/30 feet. Make sure no fobs are in the car. Set your FOB down away from the car and walk back to the car. Put your hand/arm in through the open window (either side) -- alarm should go off. My 15 3LT works every time, in fact sometimes when I don't want it too if I forget my sunglasses etc.

Sometimes when I park and get out of the car but my wife stays in the car with the windows up or down and I walk away, she'll move and set the alarm off every time. Now I just leave a fob with her. I have gone into the garage, lifted the cover and opened the glovebox, center console and even lifted the hatch without setting off the alarm.

Thanks much everyone! This is starting to annoy me! Went down stairs to car, opened driver door, sat in car closed door started car, rolled down both windows waited a few secs. shut down car, opened door got out shut door locked car with remote 2x horn sounded 1x. Counted 30steps away from car left keys there and walked back to car, put arms in car opened center console lid waved arms around inside car...nothing! Walked back picked up keys came back to car rolled windows up locked again and am now posting results. What am I doing wrong! Roof has always been on and latched.

Make sure the alarm is set. A fast flash of the red dash light is a warning that it will set in around 30 seconds. When you get a slow flash, the intrusion alarm should work.

Yes alarm was set, had a slow flash of red dash light. Weird thought I had is it possible vehicle was never taken out of transportation mode? Not sure that's possible though since I have been driving it for past 1200mi!

Thanks again!

According to the manual both windows MUST be closed, I am not sure if this is to allow the system to activate or just a warning to people to avoid nuisance alerts.

Recruit someone to remain in the car after you lock it and have them move around after 30 seconds to see if it goes off. I believe the motion sensor is basically there to sense if someone breaks in via a window (or the convertible top).

Or you could toss your key fob out the door and remain inside yourself BUT make damn sure that emergency release works or you have your phone with you

You might also try removing and reinstalling your roof in case the sensor switch needs to be cycled to make proper contact; shouldn't be necessary but it is worth a try before going for a dealer visit.

Leave the windows down and lock the car with the remote, let the alarm set and try try waving inside.

Do you have 2 buttons on the dash, left side, low? One for trunk/hatch release and the second one is for the intrusion alarm.

No, 1LT does not have it. Only on 2LT and 3LT (and the 2LZ, 3LZ Z06 equivalents).

Yes 2 buttons inside, have pressed motion alarm button with car on and message comes up on dic saying motion sensor off, pressed again and says motion sensor on.

Was wondering as posted above if the windows need to be closed?! Will have to try that from home.

Thank you all again!

I can get it to set with the windows open with the remote. I can't get to set with the top down. I have a convertible.

I wonder if this could be a 2018 change. My 2016 alarm also does function with the windows down which I found out when my daughter stayed in the car at a service station on the car's initial trip home from the museum

To the OP, the default is alarm on.

When testing, don't mess with the button at all. Start the car, roll windows down, leave and lock the car. Come back w/o fob and Reach in.

According to the OM, messing with the button changes the alarm for the ignition cycle, so your problem may have to do with that, and turning it back on isn't really doing that.

will try once again, question about fob distance, if I can not unlock or open door this means the remote or fob is far enough from car correct?

I've set mine off with the windows down and the fob in my pocket while replacing the roof. 2015 2LT.
