Can't believe there's haters..
Man, I LOVE the flat bottom wheel, stock or what I have now..
There were THRONGS of people looking at my car at Carlisle and ALL of them commenting and asking to touch/feel the wheel!
To me, its actually the BEST part of this car!
I can't wait to drive it just to put my hands on that wheel!!!!!
Really nice !! is it an option or aftermarket? how much?
I can't believe all the haters either. Most all modern upper level cars (Ferrari, Lamborghini, Pagani, Koenigsegg, etc) incorporate these flat-bottom steering wheels.
I have a 2014 and was an early adapter when these came out as an after-market item. As a matter of fact, I showed Harlan Charles mine at the NCM Birthday Bash early on (since mine was one of the first on the market). I told him that these should be standard items on ALL Corvettes.
So you might have me to blame.......
Don't forget, my 2015 Prius has a flat bottom steering wheel. Really adds to the KOOL factor
Lol, you guys are too much. I surprised you're not whining about no spinner on the wheel or that you have the high beams on the turn signal and not a button on the floor...
Really? The flat wheel impairs tight turns? lol Well maybe if you are doing the 5 degrees at a time, old man, hand shuffle...lol

Are you? I love the negative comments. From the same guy that spent a fortune on a painted hood liner than no one will ever see. We bought ours because it looks way cool. Which is what C7 folks do. And it does. Look way cool.

For all those who don't like their flat bottom wheel, I am quite sure you can find a large number of 14-15 owners who will gladly swap wheels with you.
For me, I like it... it was one of the very first things I changed about my 2014. And yes, I also have my original 2014 round steering wheel (3LT with white/gray stitching) that I will trade anyone who wants to give me their 2016+ flat bottom one.
I really don't want to rip apart my new 60/70 thousand dollar car, so I live with the imperfection.

Beliving in “form follows function,” a flat bottom “poser wheel” is not functional in a Vette, at least not mind. Reminds me of some expensive cars in the 1920’s that had small “fat man” steering wheels for guys with beer bellies!
Yep race cars have them because they have little clearance and they only need to turn the wheel through 180 degrees! As I said in prior posts, glad the GM designers didn’t watch a drag race and copy their bow tie shape wheel!
If you let designers make decisions this may be our next “poser” steering wheel!
If we are using the “form follows function” rule for deciding C7 content, the flat bottom wheel would be just 1 item in a list of dozens, if not hundreds of items in the C7.
It’s oddly inconsistent that a flat bottom wheel is where one might ‘draw the line’ after all the chrome trim, badges, stitching color options, logos, non-structural CF trim, multiple color trim options, multiple color seat insert options, stripes, etc etc that currently festoon our C7’s interior and exterior design.
Add a flat-bottom wheel and NOW the designers are getting out of control from a “form follows function” standpoint??? C’mon.

It's a 15-minute job for those who know what they're doing, and nothing gets ripped apart. I found a good deal on a Z06 wheel, w/ carbon fiber insert (same as post #28 above) here on the forum, so just had mine changed early this week.
I was going to do it myself per DIY instructions on this forum, but we're blessed w/ a master Corvette tech in this area who I know. I watched him pop the airbag out without even disconnecting the battery, take the old one off, put the new one on, plug-in 4 connectors, and re-install in less than 15 minutes. He charged me $75.
I'll give anyone who doesn't like the D-ring a really good deal on my round one. It's in perfect condition.

But none of the items you mention affects function, the flat bottom wheels does, IMO. I like some “Bling,” it does no harm. Color variation added to esthetics and are a none issue re function.
And I agree designers often go to far as Zora felt with the split rear window on the ‘63 Coupe! He had the stroke not to include it on his ‘63 Grand Sports and had it removed on the ‘64s! Bet he was mad when it made it one of the highest valuable old Vette!
From the sounds of this thread so far, you should have a long list of folks ready to throw $$$ at you for it!
LOL . . . yep, I didn't think there would be much of a market for it, but when I get home tonight, pictures are going up in the "Parts for Sale" section.
