Yep your statement about it does not affect function reminds me Arti Johnson’s words after “It’s Interestin but ....”.

However I’ll keep it in the Grand Sport as there will be a “few folks” who may want it when I buy my C8! Sure hope they don’t install an F1 style wheel in it with flats top and bottom!

For a while, this thread was my go-to for a quick chuckle. Then it got buried. Glad someone bumped it today. Needed a pick-me-up after my 15hr workday. Threads like these make me wish I was a member in 2013. The anger and hatred over the C7 tail lights must have been an amazing read

I'd never seen this thread until it made a comeback. It gave me a good laugh today too.

Yes, the “I hate you because you don’t fit the parameters of what I say you should be”. Bring on the c8 GM. Can’t wait to read those wonderful threads ranging from passive aggressive digs to full on “ that’s not a god damn vette”. Fun times ahead for sure.

LOVE the D wheel. Love the look, love the feel. I'd have a flat topped as well as flat bottomed steering wheel if it was available!

Came out in 2012 for the ZL1, my 13 1LE has the D-ring. Always wondered why the vette took until 16 to get with the program. Easy in and out and looks nice. Simple solution to a cramped problem.

The D-Ring did show up on the Z06 when it debuted as a 15 MY. However Stingrays had the round wheel in 14-15.

I forgot to mention those annoying bumps in the gripping area.
So our 2017 with the suede feels like I'm fondling a small rodent with big *****.

The best steering wheel I've ever used was in our 2009. It took about 50k miles before the leather became slightly slippery, which our suede managed to do in only 5k.
Another triumph of appearance over function.

I have the "suede" you speak of in my 1LE (steering, dash/seat inserts, shift ****). Great for holding you in those Recaros and nice, firm grip on shifter and steering wheel, especially on track days, but they take effort to keep clean. 13.5k miles on my Camaro and they still look brand new. I use warm water and a microfiber. All you really need as long as you don't let them get too nasty between cleanings

Jim,

I can't fix your "bump" issue, which I think is very functional for grip reasons, but I can help you with your flat, furry rodent problem.

I expect he got it from Caravaggio Corvettes, as they are making me one just like it. https://www.caravaggiocorvettes.com/...f-carpet-coupe

I find it funny that when d ring steering wheels were not standard equipment, people wanted them and bought them for aftermarket suppliers. Now that they are standard, the hater come out. Can't please everyone.

^^^ good sir, it is not a steering wheel unless it’s round, it’s 19” and is made of 1940’s asbestos infused materials.
