Dave, I think both the Coupe and Convertible look great ...Top up or down or roof panel on or off!

I went from a convertible to a coupe when my 17 Z06 was totaled on June 2nd. https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...hate-them.html

I went with the coupe only because I could not locate a comparable vert, and boy did I try... The only thing close was a coupe with most of the options I wanted. I miss the vert.

My opinions are:

The coupe looks better; that design really looks sharp
The vert is more fun
The vert has no, or not much, buffeting with the top down
The coupe has a lot of buffeting, even more so the higher the speed
The vert is quieter with the top up
The rear of the coupe acts as an echo chamber
The vert top, being stored in the car, reduces the stereo clarity/effectiveness
The coupe is less expensive
The coupe can have two tops
The coupe can come with the Lexan (clear) top; though in "sun states" you may want a sunshade

I really miss the vert. I drove it more with the top down than up.

While at Carlisle a few weeks ago, whenever a vert rumbled by, I really missed the vert and swore I would get another in a year or so; used of course.

Oh, did I mention I miss the vert?

I have the C5 Vert, Too hot in So Cal 80% of the time in traffic you get fried. I had the C6 clear top.. Now you just get microwaved.... LOL had to buy a inside cover for it.

The Coupe is perfect for me. I take the top off in 30 seconds and cruise when allowable. Plus I like the looks of the coupe better. On the C5 I like the vert looks better.. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder...

I bought a C7 coupe 3 years ago when I lived in New Jersey. Now that I moved to Florida I ordered an '18 Vert and will be putting the coupe up for sale. I learned a lot on the differences between the two on this thread. Thanks to all who commented.

I had a 2010 GS vert which I thoroughly enjoyed with the top down most of the time however I experienced many, many mechanical problems with the top. The only part of the top that wasn't replaced was the canvas. That experience was so disappointing that I went with a C7 coupe. I do like the extra storage space of the coupe. I probably have the top off 75% of the time but it isn't as convenient as a convertible top. I don't really feel any buffeting with the top off on the coupe but experiencing the ride with the open air all around you is definitely much more enjoyable in a convertible.

Can't speak to the vert as I've never had one, but do drive my coupe with the top down, a LOT.

I need a coupe as my DD, as I often pick up, up to 4 50 lb sacks of horse and chicken food at a time, and also grocery shop on my way home from work. I definitely need the space the coupe offers, and am amazed at how much storage space is available.

When I'm not hauling stuff, top comes out in my work parking lot, and goes back on in my driveway an hour later. Literally takes 1 minute to put on, and 1 minute take off. I love the wind swirling around my head, and when I want to talk on my cell during my drive or if there's too much wind blowing, I just temporarily put up my windows.

I test drove a vert one time, and couldn't do it for other reasons as well. Just personal choice, I love the look of the C7 coupe, not so much the vert. And I like having the sense of being cocooned within structure with the top off, instead of blasting down a 12-way highway at 75+ mph surrounded with semi's, just hanging out there.

My last Vette was a C6 GS vert, and a much as I loved that car, the rickety nature of the top, the ever-aging canvas, and the limited storage space were no longer acceptable to me.

I went with a C7 coupe and no regrets. I love the look of the roofline and I can actually use the car on a trip now....there's even enough room for all my wife's crap. That was impossible on the C6 vert.

I certainly didn't go into it thinking the targa top would be any sort of substitute for a convertible. It's not. Not even close....that's a joke. For short drives and lower speeds it's okay, but for anything else the buffeting gets very annoying. I rarely, if ever, even bother with it. I pretty much just consider it a coupe, not a targa, and I'm fine with that. I've had the car seven months and on the few occasions that missed not be able to drop the top, I thought about the shortcomings of the vert and I was over it. Long term, this was the best choice for me.

All in since I can't have both which seems like the perfect answer I think I'm going to stay with a convertible. Thanks again for all the insights and opinions!

In my opinion vets are warm weather cars. Or hot weather. When it hot, the ac is on. Coupe for me.

I live in Las Vegas, and it gets a tad toasty here in the summer. You're right, top down in a hundred-and-hell is not fun. But today, it's 82. It'll be in the 70's & 80's for the next couple of months. Then the 50's-60's until February. Top down weather until the end of April or so. Those three months in the summer, and a couple in the winter, when the top stays up are worth the other seven or so when it's top down weather...

Default Transparent top

I’ve never owned a vert but my 14 has the transparent top. I live in Florida and am surprised that very little heat passes into the cabin. The A/C handles it just fine.

I love my coupe for many reasons. Lots of room for when my wife and I go on golf trips.

Really like the look of the coupe and pretty much dislike the look of the vert with the canvas top.

I've always hated the wind/noise and dust of a vert but will occasionally take off the top on my coupe. I much prefer the quiet ride of my coupe with the AC on listening to my music.

The good news is we don't have to settle for anything because if you prefer one or the other than just buy the one you like. Nobody put a gun to my head and told me I had to buy a coupe.

I feel the whole vert vs coupe is the same as A8 vs M7. I went M7 coupe because that's what I wanted.

Necromanced thread.

But, I've had both, and I won't take the top off the coupe (it's a PITA), but will put the top down (or up as needed) all the time.

They are not the same experience, whatsoever, so those that tell you that are even close, are blowing smoke out of some orifice.

Two things I'll never do again:
#1 buy a c00p, Corvette,
#2 buy an automatic transmission Corvette.
L♡ve my convertible M7.

One thing I will never do, is make claims as to what I will or will not do in the future as things/conditions/preferences typically change over time.

I love convertibles, but hate rag tops if that makes any sense. My next Vette will be a c8 hardtop vert.

I am, for now, completely satisfied with my choice in the coupe. I rarely take the top off but think that will change once I have the option of taking down a hardtop without getting out of the car.

I'll probably get the C8 convertible. The only reason I didn't get a convert with the C7 was a storage issue. Now the C8 is actually better for storage as you won't have to store the top in the trunk as you would with the coupe. Storage retention!
