I just talked to Range Technology and they say they are shipping 8.4. They said that the beta versions will be odd numbers and shipping will be even numbers and they are now shipping 8.4. It seems like a short time for beta testing. They think they have it worked out. We will see.
Yea, interesting that they say they are now shipping 8.4 when I just received an 8.3 beta last week. They must be confident. Just started using it today. Will drive the car a few times this weekend and will report back, hopefully they have it this time. Their track record has not been great.
Well that only took a few restarts and I got a CEL again on my 17 GS. If 8.4 is the same code I'm not optimistic.
Crap, I was hoping for good news. I guess 8.4 is what will be on mine when it comes back. Time will tell. Do you leave yours plugged in and turned on when you start your car?
When I first started it I plugged it in after. The three subsequent restarts the range unit was plugged in before starting. CEL occurred on the 4th start.
It seems like the only solution is the on off switch
Agreed. switch works like a champ! I have been using V8.2R1 for over a month now and have not had any issues. (2017 GS)
I have been using the simple switch technique;
1. start car
2. wait till phone and wifi is detected and idle levels out
3. switch Range on and wait for the solid blue light and go.
Prior to shutting the engine down, switch the range off. Have not had any issues in over 2000 miles.
I can live with having to turn the Range on AFTER the car is started and then turning it off before the car is shut down. My problem is remembering to do just that. I blame it on senior moments.

Where have you located your switch? I have tried a dozen ways and nothing seems to be right. I am researching some kinda adhesive for the switch but don't want to screw up the dash. Something that can hold and still be removed without leaving marks would be ideal.

I ran the cord behind the drivers side kick plate and then along the outboard side of the drivers seat. I used velcro to attach the switch and Range to the carpet. I can reach down and turn the switch on and off and also glance down and see the lights on the Range. I tried putting it under the dash but didn't like seeing the lights while driving especially at night. I would take a photo but my unit is at Range being updated. I am pretty sure there are others who have done a similar setup because I copied their idea.
Not a big deal, but I believe that if you are powering up the range device after the car start it will clear any codes that your car has. So just be sure to check for any check engine lights or other issues before powering it up as it could reset them (ones you might want to keep).

I can understand waiting to turn the unit on for a little while but why does it need to be shut down prior to the engine shutting off? Will that really make any difference as long as the startup procedure is followed?
I'm still waiting to hear back from Range as to when this unit will be compatible with 2018 Corvettes. (I'm sure there wasn't any tuning difference between a 2017 and 2018, but I'd still rather hear from Range that the unit is compatible before being a guinea pig)
how is this company still in business? Their product is garbage! If you want to send your device in for constant updates with no guarantee of success,by all means send them your money.
Why would the GS be any different than the Stingray with an identical engine and ECM?
No clue, but I have been following this for a while and it seems more of the people that are still truly getting CEL's are those with GS'. I could certainly be wrong, but it is the sense I'm getting.
Definitely something more of an issue with 2017's though....something changed in that MY, will be interesting to see if 2018's are equally plagued by them.

My understanding is that everyone except 2017's should be working fine at this point with the latest revisions.

I'd guess those are the ones most likely purchasing these now and reporting their problems on this forum. There are no ECM programming differences between LT1-equipped models that would cause this.
They should redo this device with either a manual switch built right into it, making it easier for people to turn it on and off, or they should set it up so that it automatically is off when the car is shut down and doesn't power up until about 15-20 seconds after the car is started. This alone could improve the reliability of the unit drastically.
