I have had two already. My first replacement was due to a large rock. That one then had to be replaced due to a stress crack caused by poor installation. My second one was done by an installer who does all of the Corvettes for my dealer. If you have HUD make sure you get a HUD compliant windshield.
I would insist on OEM glass. I've heard of others with issues with non OEM if they have a HUD. Something about the material needs a certain type of reflective surface or it's blurry.
If you order through a GM dealer you may not get OEM glass either. The service parts organization orders glass through whatever supplier gives them the best price/piece for glass that meets the specifications. That means it may not be the same supplier that sells to the assembly plant. I had two windshields replaced on my C5Z and neither of them were so called OEM glass even though they were both ordered through the dealer.
Yep, make sure if you have the HUD you get the HUD windshield. I had mine replaced due to the stress crack problem 3 weeks before the 3 yr warranty expired. Now have the additional coverage on my auto policy. Dealer ordered OEM and had a "windshield guy" do the install.
My windshield took a rock hit driving home from a dealership for service. Safelite in Fresno did the replacement. It is amazing how much has to be removed in terms of trim and other parts to accomplish this job. However they did an excellent job and the safelite technician had serious attention to the slightest detail and exercised caution at every step. It helped he was a c6 owner. I opted for "non-oem" glass, but it appears to be exactly the same and was made by agc automotive, same manufacturer that supplies the oem glass for gm in the corvette. HUD works perfectly.
I highly recommend Safelight! When you make an appointment tell them you want OEM windshield. Because your insurance will tell them to use aftermarket, because it is cheaper. They will call your insurance and get the ok for OEM.

Anyone used Safelite to do their windshield? Mine is just so pitted it's like a starburst at night. Would like to get a new one...

They replaced a windshield on my 2019 Mercedes SL450 here in Nashville based on my insurance company recommendation. I went to their shop rather than use their mobile service.
They misrouted the windshield washer tubing (I fixed it myself because the tech said it was correct), lost one of the wiper arm bolt covers (the tech claimed there never was one, so I got a new one from Mercedes), and left screws in the floorboard (tech said he couldn't "find them" and used his own). Just an overall bad experience especially when the tech claimed his "attention to detail" was his main goal. He claimed that they video every repair, but when asked, refused to show me the video. Left a message at their shop afterwards and a note through their website and got no response to either.
I was there for almost 3 hours, and over half of the other customers that came in were there for a fix of a previous repair. Not good.
I'd never use them again here, and have two longtime local shops that do great work.
