Glad you were not hurt and thankfully it was only a glancing blow. Could have done a lot more damage to the car had it been more towards the center of the car. Looks like a pretty decent repair job too.
My wife hit a deer 4 weeks ago. Brand new car, she came to a full stop but the deer still hit the car. $4000 later.... car is all repaired. Frickin deer man.
No doubt, they are stupid! Will run across the road worse than squirrels. They never turn back and once started they could care less if your car is in the way!
I live two miles down a narrow twisty road, homes on one side mostly woods on the other. Watched the other day as 4 small doe looked at me as I was about to pass. I stopped about 50 feet short of where they were and blew my horn, they just looked! Then a buck came out of the woods and ran across the road! The 4 doe instantly followed. They were going to eat plants in the homes across the street!
Although I usually drive in the right lane on the 4 lane divided highway near my home, this time of year I drive in the left. Figure I give myself a bit more time when they run cross the road! Always a number of dead ones on the side of the road this time of year or in the grass median!
I hate dumb deer. They never obey the "Deer Crossing" signs and just cross where ever they want! And never, not once have I seen one getting a Jay Walking ticket. Jeeze...

Ah yes, but this time of year they do get stopped. If still on the woods side of our road - by a shotgun!

Appreciate it man! Yeah it could have been a lot worse.

Old Thread! I live on a twisty narrow road 2 miles from a highway. On one side are homes, on the other 3/4 woods and woods and farm fields behind the homes that are there. Recently had a friend visit and when they left at 10 PM I mentioned several times to watch for deer that leave the woods and come across to our homes on the Lake to eat our plants! He said he got 200 yards from our home and a large deer came across just in front of his car.
Last night was driving the wife's new BMW SUV and one crossed about 25 yards in front. I slowed to ~10 mph and sure enough, one popped out of the woods and ran to follow passing within 10 feet in front of the SUV!
Glad we always use the wife's SUV when we go out together! Would not want to have one come over the hood of the Vette!
I have hit two deer but fortunately both were while I was running
Several years ago I was about 3 miles into a 5 mile run and a doe popped out of the tall grass and froze directly in front of me and I had to push off of her shoulder to stop. She stared for a couple of seconds then ran off into the field. Two years later I was near the end of the run when a doe came flying at full speed out of a corn field and clipped me as she bounded across the road. No damage done but the deer seem to be getting pretty aggressive around here and I have had to make very hard stops twice in the Z06 to avoid a group that suddenly decided to cross the road..
Since you more than likely used your Comprehensive Insurance to cover the damage have you mentioned the repair issue to your insurance company? If you run into any problems in the quality of a repair it helps to have somebody with some mojo behind them on your side.

Deer are not as smart as squirrels! At least squirrels will often stop and go back. Once one deer runs across the road others blindly follow regardless if a car is in the way. With your experiances appears people as well!
Hate to see that. Looks like they did a great job repairing the damage.
Really? Not what I heard/saw--debris in the paint that needs to go back and be wet sanded, etc...that's not great, heck, that's not even an average job. Personally I'd never use a dealer body shop and use shops that do work on high end cars (Ferraris, Porsches, Lambos, etc...). The guys I use would never let a car leave their shop like that one did.
I've hit 2 of those fvkcers in the last 2 years on motorcycles.
Here's a good pic that shows how the deer hair actually gets wedged into the plastics.
BTW, I have deer whistles on my bikes...
I ran OVER Bambi way back in the day, somehow I managed to keep the bike upright, pulled over about a 1/4 mile down the road. The bike looked unscathed, I was on a road trip and the next morning I inspected the bike and the header had taken a shot and later began to leak, only evidence of the strike other than the leaking header was a clump of hair in the exhaust clamp.
