Looking to buy my first corvette this week. Found a new 2017 1LT stingray in my preferred exterior and interior colors. I don't have chevy loyalty but the dealer is quoting 49k out the door. The only thing its missing is the performance exhaust. Would that be a deal breaker for you? Unfortunately its too cold and snowy for me to test drive it and hear it for myself.
It would be a deal breaker for me. I would never buy a C7 without performance exhaust.
There are a lot of C7s on lots. Keep looking until you find the right deal on the right car.
Thanks. That's kind of what I thought from searching the forums. I think that's why this car has sat for so long. Dealer told me to just install an aftermarket exhaust if I didn't like it.
Not that much of a deal a lot of guys in here has pulled it off the car. If you like loud then get the car you chg it out you will not look back on it. Robert
If its what you want and the deal is good get it, for what you pay from GM for a performance exhaust buy a Corsa exhaust or Borla
Alot of us C7 drivers pull the fuse control for valves anyway to have most noise at all times. There are some Bad-*** exhaust systems out there if you think (some of us) the noise is intoxicating!!
Thanks everyone...who knows the stock exhaust may be good enough for me but I want my corvette to sound like a corvette! Best price I could find on a manual 1lt with performance exhaust was 2k more and not a color I would choose. This car plus aftermarket exhaust sounds like maybe the way to go.
Definitely a deal breaker for me. I would not buy a Corvette with out the NPP performance exhaust. Performance exhaust has 4 inch tips instead of 3 in. You set the loudness of the performance exhaust from quiet to loud from the console.
It sounds awesome!!! It's part of the Corvette experience for me.
Aftermarket exhausts are expensive (1500 and up) and do not tie into the electronics of the car to control valves if that's what you want.
The non performance exhaust sounds too quite to me.
You will definitely be disappointed with the lack of sound with the non performance exhaust system. I would still purchase the car if it has everything else you want and get an aftermarket exhaust system.
I prefer a quiet exhaust so I ordered mine with the base exhaust and I'm perfectly happy. The extra money in my pocket means more than a very slightly louder exhaust, slightly bigger tips and 5hp that you'll never notice. JMO
If you get this one go Corvettes at Carlisle all the aftermarket guys are there and you can hear the various different exhausts and get a good deal and installation I had the NPP exhaust on my 08 and it was quiet but when I pulled the fuse to keep it open it droned so bad I had to replace the fuse. my 96 had a Corsa exhaust sound was great and it didnt drone my 15 has the performance exhaust and I have it set on sport and the sound is great no drone, your choice and money do what you feel is best
For me, NPP is a deal breaker. The ability to switch your exhaust from quite to loud is just too cool and the "loud" mode sounds incredible. If your plan to always put it on loud mode then yes, get that current car and get an aftermarket exhaust or pickup a takeoff NPP exhaust and leave the valves open.

Billy Boat makes really nice Corvette exhaust. They make a system that replicates the NPP system with some sort of vacuum actuator. If I was in your shoes, I might be looking at that system. I think it’s called the “Fusion” system. Check it out.
A friend has a 2014 Z51 without the performance exhaust. It was an option in 14..His car sounds ok..If the car is the one you want, buy it and try it for awhile. If you find you want to make more noise you can do what others have suggested and buy a good after market system..
