I saw a thread from some who activate the ill place hatch release button as I have the same problem nearly every time I enter or exit the car. An irritating minor problem. I'm currently working on a fix and will share once I have completed it.
What an awesome car! A little crazy for a daily driver but that's what it will be. I've been restoring GM A and F body's and a few Vette's for 30 years and have had some really fast ones, as much as 800hp but this is such a refined beast!

Adjust your Easy Exit settings... the seat should then be far enough back for you to exit without hitting the button....
I did it several times in the rental I had in 2014. I have yet to hit the button in my car getting in or out. Not sure what the difference is.
Maybe it's just me. I have popped the hatch whilst having too many things in my pocket, however.
I trained myself to enter and exit a certain way and cured the same issue.
enter - *** in seat and rotate legs....exit - rotate legs hand on sill push up and away.
My current issue is being sure I don't clip the skirts with a full stomp of my foot or catch the back of a shoe on it. I also tell passengers to be careful of the side skirts.

I'm on my 7 Vette and" with each generation you got to figure what to move when." I have had 3 C3, 1 C5, 2 C6, and as of now 1 C7.
FWIW I'm a rather fluffy built person and have been asked many times how the hell do you get into-out of that low little car. My reply is "with dignity" Even at 72YO 5'11'' 250# you can maneuver gracefully. That's only for the drivers position very rarely do I ride shotgun.
I know I have seen many people looking like a paratrooper leaping through the door of a plane to get out.
I put my right leg in the car, and then while holding the steering wheel, I sit over and into the seat... then move my left leg into the car..
I cannot even come close to hitting the button on the dash...
If you set over into the seat sideways, and then swing both legs in, still hard to hit the button.
How do you manage to do that?
The ultimate fix for you may be to just disconnect the switch and use the rear button or fob.

Somebody with a 3d printer should be able to make something to put tabs on each side of the switch so that when you bump it with a knee, it won't hit the button but a finger would guide right in.
Sounds like an opportunity for some forum vendor. Like the guy that make that seat belt guide clip thingy.

Ok, I came up with a fix for the problem and it doesn't involve the way I get in or out or how far the seat is adjusted. I used a household light switch wall plate, cut it down, epoxied together, drilled a hole for a finger, applied automotive double back tape and painted it low gloss black. Check out the pictures and tell what you think. I'm a big boy and can take criticism. I'll take it off if it looks stupid, no holes were drilled so it's easy to go back. By the way it could be wrapped with leather but I matches all the other buttons. Could be printed on a 3D printer!
I expected your solution would be a cover, nicely done.
The stupidest recall I have ever gone through was for my 2014 ATS. It was a mandatory federal safety recall because the sunroof switches weren't recessed far enough to prevent accidental activation. The GM fix was a new trim piece that sticks out far enough to keep the buttons highly recessed.
Other than some of the religious sorts who feel the need to throw up their hands and scream Praise Jesus several times per drive I have no idea how accidental sunroof activations were occurring. And unless it was Count Dracula driving with the fear of turning to dust from unfiltered sunlight I am missing the safety issue. A child would have to stand up to reach the buttons and the safety reverser is so sensitive that a bug on the tracks activates it. Rant mode temporarily off.
My switch is a bit different as it has the button to turn off the motion sensor next to it, but I'll just drill two holes. And I have some CF wrap left over so it should match the CF dash too! Next trip to the HomeRepo I'll pick up a wall plate...
